A visit to Porto Cathedral is a must if you are visiting Porto. It is one of the most important tourists sights in Porto and historical architectural landmark of the city. It is generally deemed one of the most impeccable embodiments of the Romanesque style. But it is rather a mix of styles and influences. Regardless, people who studied in architecture should definitely take the time to analyze the way Porto Cathedral expresses alliance between three major historical styles : Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque. The Gothic cloister and its ceramic tiles azulejos is not to be miss. Another highlights of the cathedral is an altarpiece which fetches an exquisitely elaborate scene made of silver, and to the Gothic rose window of the facade. Regardless of your architectural interest, a visit to the Se do Porto, the largest place of worship in Porto and one of the oldest historical monuments remains a must visit for all tourists of Porto.

It's incredible! So majestic... And the organ was playing classical music! The best sound I've ever heard!

I am not fan of Roman style, but seems, like this Cathedral was build for defence cases and some elements are really old. But it's quite cold and have no spirit as some other main churches in Europe. Anyhow, it is must see object in Porto and if you came here, just come to make your impression.

Big, visible and imposing over the city. This cathedral was built in 12th century in Romanesque style. It had s number of improvements into the Gothic style. Inside, the cloister, the vestry, the chapel of St Jao Gordo and an exhibition of Sacred art are worth seeing.
