The Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady is a church in the Strahov Monastery, Prague. It was originally constructed as a Romanesque basilica and later rebuilt in Baroque style.

Breath taking library. Beautiful view of Pargue from restaurant terrace. Highly recommend stopping for some beer before venturing downhill towards the castle. Next time I would arrange tour so could actually go inside library as is done by reservation only and would be more worth it. Some people may not be happy with price for what you get and having to pay for photos but it is such a beauty it is worth it.

Super cool library. It's definitely a quick trip. If you want a closer more in-depth experience you will need to book a tour. There is a link to booking big tours on their website. If you don't have a lot of time it's still worth popping in. It's about $5 to get in. Another $2 if you want to be allowed to use your camera (in non-flash mode). It's a pleasant walk / loop to go to the monastery, swing by the Loreta Church and then continue down to Prague Castle. You can also do the walk in reverse.

It's a shame you cannot access the old library, but even taking a glimpse while visiting museum is worth it. Beautiful. Definitely try the craft beer they offer in a monastery brewery.

The famed period libraries are a visual treat. The beautifully painted fresco style on the ceiling is extraordinary. View around the monastery is spectacular.

The Strahov library is absolutely stunning. I could spend the hours in there without any problem whatsoever. Both the philosophical room and the theology room are gorgeous. Sadly you can't walk into the main room and be closer to the wonderful murals but that's to be understood considering the possible damage changes in humidity can do to them. I'm not a huge fan of charging people extra money to be allowed to take photographs.

We really liked this place. We ate at the restaurant outside the main area by the tennis court and the food was wonderful. We tried the beer and it was very good too. The grounds a very large and there's a lot to see. The picture gallery owns over 1,500 items and there's a nice selection on display. You also get to see several of the rooms that are decorated with lovely frescos. Of course there is a special display for Saint Norbert.

The two libraries are the main attraction here, although there are some interesting books and artifacts on display here as well. A private tour can be booked in advance, but doesn't seem to offer much more than what's available on Wikipedia. The tour does get you in the libraries, but you can see quite well from the doorway. My best advice is to arrive promptly at 9am, buy your ticket and photography permit before tour groups show up.

Reachable by foot from Petrin Tower (on which you will pas a beautiful park area) or Prague Castle complex. Entry to the Library and Gallery costs CZK 120 each. I didn't enter myself, but from Googling it seems to be heavenly beautiful there. Worth a visit.

Pretty rubbish experience. The ticket office does not accept cash. You cannot enter the rooms. The exhibits you can see are dried out fish and sharks. They charge extra for photos. Do not believe the photos they show as you cannot get access to that areas.

Beautiful library but not sure if it’s worth going out of your way to visit. Maybe you’re in the neighbourhood and you will have to pay 50czk more for photo permission. The library is gorgeous even though you can’t go in.

Beautiful views from the monastery and they make their own beer. We spent an afternoon walking around the many parks of Prague and wound up here and were greeted with an incredible view. Close to tram station.
