What an absolute disgrace this tour was. After having a seat for the early part of the trip we stopped for a break and collect other passengers, I had left my food/belongings on our seat only to come back to “new” people sitting in our seats. We ended up in an argument as the new person did not want to move, so we brought it the drivers attention who then asked the person to move, which they did. Next stop same thing happened, same person decided that apparently this was their seat – this time it got even more heated and the bus driver told us to sort it ourselves, or for me to get off the bus and take another bus? Why should we have to do this, we had done nothing wrong it is just normal common sense and curtesy that if you have a seat – then you have that seat for the tour. People don’t get to just jump into it when you go to the toilet. We had left our food and other items on the seat when we had a break and toilet stop. The bus driver simply washed his hands of the incident and allowed us to fend for ourselves. I would not recommend this group to anyone looking for a pleasant experience after the experienced I had today. Looking at their last couple of reviews as well as their google reviews I can see I am not the only person that thinks this company is a waste of money and knows little about basic customer service. Understand that the bus driver is not a security guard but that the same time “someone” has to be responsible to uphold proper group travel etiquette – the people who kept taking my seat clearly knew they could over power us if push come to shove and bullied us. We were booked on their Milford Sound Tour and made to feel belittled and patronised by our driver, with the driver even stating "if you're unhappy or want to complain, you should get another bus" what a way to speak to a customer. They have well and truely ruined the experience for us. Would not recommend this company to anyone unless you want to waste your money and gain an unpleasant experience!! Bordering on racism, happy enough to take our money but treats us totally different to the "rest" of the customers. The driver definitely sided with the instigator who with out calling races out was definitely of the same ethnicity.
We got sorted in the end as their computer systems were down we had to wait around a little and grab our gear on the mountain. This took time away from are experience which was disappointing as we turned all early.
DO NOT USE FOR LEFT LUGGAGE. After being told Kiwi Discovery opened at 630am in person the day before, we arrived at 7am to find it shut. We were forced to make last minute plans and almost missed our tour. Thank God we didn't need to collect our bags. Avoid at all costs! Absolute disgrace.
Enjoyed the tour, but would not recommend to foreigners or culturally sensitive people. The bus driver shared great facts about the area and NZ in general around the way, and added an extra layer of entertainment to the trip. The view was stunning despite the endless rain. We left and arrived on time. However the downsides - there was a lingering smell of puke on the bus throughout our trip, and the "Asian driver' comments made by our own driver several times at the display of bad driving by others on the road was disappointing.
