The memorial tower to Sir Robert Peel, also known as "Holcombe Tower", high above Ramsbottom was planned and erected at the same time as Bury was preparing its statue to the then recently deceased statesman who was born in Bury.
Small charge for entry... even to NT members. Well worth it though. You need to cope with the many steps and to take a camera with you... the views are great!
Great views after climbing the 172 steps
A great walk through the woods and easy trek on foot all worth the panaromic view at the end...just delightful.
Worth the effort. Brilliant views over Ramsbottom, with Rochdale, Oldham and Manchester in the distance.
Nice place "in the nature" near Manchester with great views.
Medium difficulty walk from the car park but not too difficult if taken at a slow pace. The tower is open some Sundays, look online for details. Great views of Manchester and if you go up the tower you can see quite far North too. The tower is great inside, a real feat of engineering given it's location.
