We dropped by on a whim as it looked nice and was on our way back to our apartment. It was one of the best places in Riga! It was excellent home cooking and great value. Their soups were superb and service to match. Other dishes also looked magnificent but we were too full. Definitely try this out of the way gem!

The swedish Gate is part of the Old Town walls that went around Riga during the medieval times, serving as both fortification wall and as an important border for trade purposes, it was also as one of the few entrances to the town.

It’s a bit of a let down for a must-see in Riga. While it has interesting historical involvement, there is no information on it there and it can be easy to just glance over it because it’s just such a small monument.
