They also patrol 1. after 30min) but they don't guard the Monument in extreme conditions (under -10°C {14°F} and above 25°C {77°F}

Monument to those who fought against the forces of darkness in two wars. A magnificent symbol of Latvian willingness to fight for freedom and independence. Located in the city centre so there is no reason not to visit and pay respect to the brave warriors of the past

Rigas liberty monument is definitely worth a visit. It gives a good impression on how Latvia has been occupied for many years. Interesting that the sculptures on the monument facing east are all in chains.
It's a free monument outside you can visit in Riga, it's just in front of Old Town Riga. It's an ideal place as meeting point. It's quite nice when it's dark outside.

A monument with history. The sculptures around the base explain the story and I recommend that you go with a local guide to get the maximum background of the history of the place. It's a closed road so there is no vehicles, so easy to get around and take good photographs as you wish. If you are in riga it's hard to miss this.
