An absolute must see when visiting Rio de Janeiro. Take the train to the top, enjoy the ride and views. Have a snack, full meal or a cold beer at one of the many small cafes at the top. Fabulous views and photo opportunities. ALWAYS busy, so plan to spend some time. Lots of tours available, but we always go by ourselves to get extra time and work on our own schedule. The electric cog railway up the mountain and back is well worth it. Great scenery, and fabulous views from the top. *** Plan your trip for a clear day***. The best time is late morning to early afternoon when any fog is usually burned off.
The tram ride up is very nice and cost you 62 reals. I didn't book the ticket online and just went to the tram station.. if you are paying with a credit card you can skip the line and buy the ticket from the machine which saved me some time. The view from up there is very nice and you almost see all of Rio. I don't think it's worthy to be a world wonder to be honest since there is nothing special about the statue itself. Also it's very hard to take a picture with the statue without someone else appearing on it. I went there around 11 am and it was clear and nice.
Stunning sight! Amazing magnificent statue. Very crowded place so plan accordingly, also do not go when Sun is on your head, not a best time to take photos. You need to take your time to get a good clear shot.
Beautiful and totally worth it. I took the tram and it was a glorious view to the top. There are other options to drive or hike, but I think the tram is the best option. The statue is grand and the site has shops, a cafe, restrooms, a chapel within the statue, and a crazy 360 view of Rio De Janeiro.
It's a must see attraction. Lots of tourists, as always. Great view. You have the option to get a van or the train to Corcovado. I'd recommend getting the train for a better experience. Go early so you don't need to wait too long in the queue, or buy online, if possible.
An iconic landmark when you think of not only Rio de Janeiro but Brazil. Make sure you choose day with good visibility as views are amazing. That also means bigger crowds too. Private van or tour vans, I think, is best way to get up mountain. Except for the train option you’ll get dropped off where you buy tickets/gift shop and small cafe is, then once your group time is called you’ll board the Tijuca Parks own vans to take you all the way to the top. Just beautiful, sacred landmark. Early morning to noon the sun will be in correct position for Christ to have good lighting. Later afternoon/evening it will be backlit.
Simply amazing. The statue is gigantic up close. There is a viewing area in the front side and you can rent mats to lay on the ground while your partner stands in front of the statue holding their arms out emulating it. There is a viewing platform all the way around the statue and you have an incredible view of Rio. Avoid the elevator for the last bit up to the top if you can and take the stairs you'll save ten minutes of waiting.
The statue weighs 635 metric tons (625 long, 700 short tons), and is located at the peak of the 700-metre (2,300 ft) Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro. A symbol of Christianity across the world, the statue has also become a cultural icon of both Rio de Janeiro and Brazil, and is listed as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone. It is a very well maintained monument and gives a wonderful view of whole Rio De Janeiro along with the sea. A worth visiting place in Rio.
Great view of Rio from here. Specially on a clean day or with just a few clouds. You really need to check the weather before coming up here. The statue is amazing and the place have both van and train option. But you have to buy train tickets in advance. It's usually crowded, specially if the weather is nice. The service departing from Lido Square works until 4pm but the information wasn't clear the day before. We wouldn't have made it if a private guide hadn't been there. You have to pay to enter the statue. That fee includes taking you up to the peak.
This is one of the world wonders. It is listed in world heritage. The price of ticket is very high. The beauty of its eyes is so attractive. I liked the experience with this place very much because of its architecture. This is awesome. No one can forget the experience with this place because it's amazing. This is the beauty of Rio de Janeiro. If you go to Rio de Janeiro don't miss this place because it's such a pretty
Awesome place! Best views of Rio from up here but considering it's on a hill at 710 meters that's no surprise. It's been a while since I was here now back in 2003 with my friend Iza on our 2 1/2 month travel through South America but I still remember the stunning view from up here. And just in time to see the sunset as well! Truly an amazing experience that will stay with me forever. A must place to visit if you're in town!!!!! But I don't think anyone will considering it's one of the worlds most famous places.
So beautiful resort. The way to the statue is very dreamy. You have two choices to go here: By official vans or cable train. The view of city is wonderful. Some people prefer to achieve here by climbing! A lot of people from all around the world could be seen here.
Great View!!! I felt very safe getting up there I observed a lot securities around it. Fair price for the ticket, food and souvenirs. The only thing I was not too happy about it was the time that took for my wife and I to get up there at the statue, about 2 hours because there was a lot tourists. But, in the end was worth it. We visited back in January (2018). Most of the staff speaks english.
Visited twice.. A great place.. First the marvellous Christ the Redeemer statue.. It has been wonderfully sculpted and no wonder it's termed an engineering marvel too... Access is by road taking the tour vans that could cost 62rials.. Or by tram that cost the same. Reaching the top there is the escalator provided for reaching the statue.. A birds eye view of Rio de Janeiro and Copacabana beach could be seen from here. Better visit in the late morning as there could be possibility of cloud cover... Watching the sunset is awesome from the place.. The tram service is every half n hour... And there are restaurants and souvenir shops at the place... Be careful while at the entrance to the tram station local tourist guides sometimes try to cheat.. Better take the tram.. My personal opinion.. Food stalls are expensive so just go for watching the wonderful statue and beautiful Rio de Janeiro from the top..
The amazing view and the majestic Christ raising to the sky is an awe to cherish.. The surrounding view of the complete Rio de Janerio city is also breathtaking... Tickets are to be collected at the shopping centre down and you have to wait for the coupon number dedicated to you for the transport to the Christ Redeemer statue. The entire walk to the Christ statue is lined with souvenir shops which are quote affordable and a good collection too. Make sure you don't miss the bay view of the Rio city located nearby.
What a sight when you reach there. A beautiful sight and truely a wonder. Huge huge that can be seen from very far. It's blue just statue, it's the thing that made Rio de Janeiro famous. A must visit place before you die. See the engineering architect and feel blessed. Strongly recommend for those who Wants to see wonders. Happy journey
One of the Seven wonders of the modern world! Recommend everyone who visits Rio de Janeiro to check it out! Lovely I was amazed at the statue as it is super tall! Crowded but it was worth it!
The most iconic and magnetic sites in Rio! The statue is huge with wonderful views of the whole city. The statue sits right on the line dividing the city into north and south side. To your right will be the south side with the beaches and racing, to your left is the north side with the maracana stadium. If you are lucky, you will be there when there is a prayer service going on. A different experience regardless of how religious you are! Make sure you go there early enough to beat the crowd. It could get quite busy.
Wonderful views of the city from up here. A lot of the staff speak enough English to make it easy to get around. Getting to the top is tricky so make sure your taxi driver takes you as far as he can go (usually up to the official buses, that take you up to the actual statue). Don't get off early as the hill is ridiculously steep. Lovely souvenirs around here too.
Yes we chose one of those few days to go to see a wonder of the world and the dog had set in. We’d seen it from a distance, we’d seen it flying in, we’d seen it from the favela. Alas not when we got there. As I was with a group we had a bus up to the top where you buy the tickets and find the most amazing gift shop I think I’ve ever see . From there you then take a special van to another section. Kiosk is here. Then elevator and escalators take you to the top. The best we could see was an outline of the arms. There is a small chapel underneath the statue that you can also visit for free. Overall I found the experience worthwhile even though I could t see much of the statue or of he great view.
It was in 2011 when i visited this place knowing Christ as the Savior brings joy in my life especially during hardship. The place with the symbol of Christ means a lot of the Christians of Brazil. Visit the place and experience the feeling for yourself you wont regret. Christ the Redeemer is a statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil that was built as a symbol of Brazilian Christianity. In 1850, the idea of building a religious monument was first suggested by a Catholic Priest. It wasn't until 1920 when a group petitioned for support to build a landmark statue that it became a reality.
