Its a beautiful squared of old posh houses of Rio. If you like viewing what men built being consume by the jungle its a must. Even the ugliest monster has its beauty and that's what happen here. It will just take you 10 minutes and the good thing is that is not overcrowded.

A glimpse of the past. Too bad it's so overlooked and underrun by the authorities

The most interesting, or should I say, unusual experience I had in Rio. As soon as we got off our Uber, a woman with a towel on her head from the window of this building came downstairs. (I thought this was an abandoned place?) She greeted me and my boyfriend and invited us in before we said anything...I felt like I was visiting her home. Only to find out inside was the point of interest. Inside, her family was doing barbecue on a grill made of car wheel...and she pulled us over to talk about health issues of her family and how she was needing money. She took us to the garden (or should I say jungle?) and as confused as we were..we followed while we worried about our lives. She offered to take pictures for us in the garden and talked to us more. When we decided to take off cuz it felt sketchy as hell, at the gate I noticed the door was chain locked...I thought we couldn't get out..but we offered her 20 Reais and she opened the door for us and we were out. What an experience...

Nice place to stop by to appreciate colonial style architecture

This is a nice old square with old Rio/Portuguese architecture. If you appreciate history and architecture, you will enjoy this. It is worth visiting if you have a 20-30 minute wait for the train at Corcovado. There are large trees providing shade as well.
