We were recommended to buy our entry tickets from the Forum (ticket valid for both) as the queue would be not as long - we did, at about 09:30 and there was no queue at all. Then to the Colosseum and walked straight in. Probably considerably busier in summer though. Spent a couple of hours strolling around but didn't do the guided tour (access to more areas.) As with everything in Rome...it's bigger than you think! Then it was onward to the Forum...wear comfy shoes. All in all, an excellent day.

The dramatic colosseum is obviously one of the must-see attractions in Rome. The grand facade, towering columns and iconic elliptical arena give you a sense of the spectacles that took place here. We booked a tour that included the underground and upper levels and would highly recommend it. The underground network of tunnels includes a replica of one of the lifts that would have raised the animals up onto the arena floor. We were taken out onto the replica arena floor and up onto the upper levels that give you a spectacular view of the huge amphitheatre. The tour was easy to follow as we were given headphones and the guide has a microphone so you don’t miss out on any interesting facts along the way. Was definitely worth the extra cost and I would highly recommend it (ensure you book plenty of time in advance through the Coop culture website)!

A sight to see! Pictures don't do it justice. Seeing Roman architecture with your eyes is jaw dropping. A feat of strength by mankind. It's crazy to imagine the manpower and time put into erecting a building of this caliber. It's amazing to experience a building that has withstood time for over 2000 years. To be able to walk through the same corridors and paths the Roman citizens did those many years ago.

The standard tickets gets you access to the normal arena where you can pretty much soak up the atmosphere. But if you want to see the view from the fighting platform or from higher vantage points, then you'll have to fork out a bit extra. The standard ticket also allows you access to the Roman Forum which is just outside the Colosseum and offers great views. The whole area is rich of history and culture. Would definitely recommend it.

The Colosseum is a wonder to see in person. It's massive structure cannot be adequately appreciated except in person. It is highly advised to purchase your tickets online, as the line to gain entry can be quite long at times. The second and third floor, as well as the basement, are accessible to tourists. However, these levels are an extra fee to explore. The best deals can be found online. A great experience for kids of all ages!

Must-see. I recommend booking a tour to get the most of the experience. The lines can be extremely long, but tour groups skip the lines. Being in a tour group is also the only way to get to the arena floor, where you can stay for about ten minutes. I went with The Roman Guy and was satisfied. Being on the ground floor gives you a much better feel for what it would be like to actually be there, and helped me appreciate the power of this building much more than viewing from the stands. There is also free, clean water across the street next to the metro station.

Absolute monumental! If you’re in Rome there is no question about should you shouldn’t you - you have to come to the Colosseum. You get awestruck walking around it. It is amazing that this was built 2000years ago and it’s still standing. When enter there are some steep steps to climb but once you’re up it’s breath taking - so much history in one place. I would recommend booking an early time slot on line to try and avoid queues. I went at 8.30am and the queue was already long. Also go for the audio tour you get to learn a bit more about the history and architecture. Do it!!

You need to be careful with many tour agency outside the Colosseum. For same ticket, they ask different price. It is amazing to be able to visit such a touchstone of history. To think that you're standing in a structure that has stood for thousands of years and something that was so central to the Roman empire. The recorded tours are really informative and because of its size the queues to get in are quick. I think that this is one of Rome's must sees. Maybe look to visit a little earlier in the day as the tour will give you ideas for a number of lesser known places to explore once you've finished at the Colosseum.

Colosseum itself is absolutely amazing architecture. There is nothing to complain about that. Be carefully about those staffs around, most of them are not official staffs. They are travel agents. They are very good at lying and exaggerating about the waiting time or the queue. All they want is to ask you to join the tour group. Don't fall into the trap of their liars, stick to your plan.

What can you say about the Colosseum that hasn't been​ said already. It's magnificent. Just a quick tip though. Don't fall for people outside promising you a quicker way in. It's the old tourist trap. Also, it's just way too​ crowded(and Rome in general) during the peak of summer; august in particular. So if you can, visit at a less popular period. My last visit was in March. The weather was perfect too.

A must see. Absolutely breathtaking and if you ever go to Rome... it is the only place you HAVE TO go. The history is incredible. The underneath your is awesome and everyone is super friendly (don't buy into the random tours people offer you. Fine someone who is qualified.) If you see a person who has your national flag for a tour. They do speak your language :). Also, yes, they have bathrooms in there. Absolutely indescribable beauty and history.

Before entrance I highly recommend to buy tickets in advance. There is possibility to buy tickets on place, but queues can be hours long. By buying tickets via internet you won’t save money (it’s even more expensive) but you surely save lot amount of time. After that it’s pretty simple and straightforward to get there - go with crowd. At every 50 meters, there is staff members ready to help. Don’t hesitate to ask if you feel lost. At entrance prepare for check like in airport. St least you can bring your own water and even refill it inside for free. Prepare for 1-2 hours visit for basic ticket and 2 floors.

Brilliant. The queue was fairly substantial even at 5.25pm, so I would recommend getting your tickets at the other ticket offices. The ticket office for the Palatine on San Gregorio had a much shorter queue. The ticket allows you entrance to both the Palatine and the Colosseum, so you can just turn around and walk over to the Colosseum with your ticket, skipping most of the queue.

I think it's an understatement to say you have to see this, since it's one of the seven wonders of the world; so to make it easier on you, I think the best way to experience Rome in its fullest is to buy the Roma Pass. Having said that, the Roma Pass gives you access to the Colosseum and the adjacent Forum for free if you choose to go to these as your *1 museum* or *2 museums* for free included in the Roma Pass of your choice. The two of them are included in one ticket. You just have to enter through the Roma Pass line, they will scan it and you are inside. At the forum, they don't have a special line for the pass, but still you won't need to buy a ticket for either. The Colosseum has posted signs that are easy to follow. Inside the Colosseum, there are spots with free potable water for your convenience and for little ones riding strollers or people in wheelchairs they have elevators at one end of the Colosseum. A must when visiting Rome. Very busy place. It is surprisingly well maintained. You experience a real feeling if what life was like. Queues are long so expect a long waiting time in the heat. The ticket is combined with the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill and is valid for 2 days. Kids under 18 go free. Tip. By your ticket online and jump the queues or go just before closing time and by the ticket. You can use it the next day. Even better buy the ticket at the Forum entrance where there are less people. Best way to experience the 3 sites is to start at Palatine Hill, walk down to the Forum and then end at the Colosseum.

Immense. Loved every second I was there. It is well worth a visit. A wee tip for all who are going, don't stand in the queue for a ticket here as you will have wait up to 2 hours to buy a ticket then have another queue to wait in for entry.Instead go to the roman forum where can get a ticket to enter both the forum and the Colosseum and it only costs 12 euros. It is a 5 minute walk away, you will have to wait about 20 minutes to get in to the Roman forum but it is epic and beautiful. When you return to the Colosseum you will only have a queue for entry and you won't have to worry about all the great ticket deals the agents outside are trying to sell you.

Lots of history, a fantastic monument to visit, the landmark of Rome. Great for the all family or couples. Immerse yourself in history, you will feel as if you were sent to another era. Enjoy each moment, great also to appreciate in a group or in a guided tour. Ensure you take some bottles of water with you, also avoid buying water from the sellers outside. You will definitely have a great time and if you have some time also visit the vicinity at night, it is an amazing view the sight of the lights reflecting in this colossal monument.
