Fontana del Tritone (Triton Fountain) is a seventeenth-century fountain in Rome, by the Baroque sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Commissioned by his patron, Pope Urban VIII, the fountain is located in the Piazza Barberini, near the entrance to the Palazzo Barberini (which now houses the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica) that Bernini helped to design and construct for the Barberini, Urban's family. This fountain should be distinguished from the nearby Fontana dei Tritoni (Fountain of the Tritons) by Carlo Francesco Bizzaccheri in Piazza Bocca della Verità which features two Tritons.

Very beautiful fountain but small compared to other fountains and statues.

Nice fountain, not as old as most. Great meeting point. They say best place for selfies..not sure I believe that.

The Tritone fountain, entirely carved in travertine, is composed of a small-height tub placed at ground level, above which there are four dolphins with an open mouth that emerge elegantly from the water. The latter, turning their tails and intertwining them, hold a large open bivalve shell, in the center of which the marine god Triton rises. The Triton, with a mighty trunk and erect and legs covered with scales, reclines his head in the act of blowing in a large cone-shaped shell, mighty straight with his arms; unlike the traditional tritons, generally depicted with monstrous connotations, the Bernini's statue has a more human aspect. Among the tails of the dolphins are artistically intertwined two papal coats of arms with the three bees, heraldic symbol of the Barberini family.

Good fountain that is usually not that busy. Right outside of Barberini metro station. But it is on an island surrounded by cars, so it is hard to cross. There is one crosswalk to get to the fountain.

It's a Bernini sculpture. Not as grandiose as some of his other many sculptures, but still pretty snazzy.
