This was probably my favourite place in Rome. A sprawling collection of ruins that formed the splendid centre of Roman life. The buildings are fairly sparsely labelled so I would recommend taking an audio guide or a good guide book to help you make the most of your visit. It’s worth making the walk up to Palatine Hill as you’ll be rewarded by some spectacular views of both the Forum and out over the city. The ticket is included in the general entrance ticket to the colosseum and you can use them over two days. I would definitely give yourself at least half a day to explore this wonderful historic site.

Words fail to successfully describe the Roman Forum, nor can they convey my feelings as I strolled through it. This place is truly amazingly, breathtaking! The history of this place is awe inspiring, and just to think of the great Roman emperors who walked those streets brought a sense of humility to my soul. GREAT Experience and I think anyone who is in Rome HAS to take a walk through the Roman Forum.

It baffles me that there are people in this world that give 1 star reviews to a place as beautiful and historically significant as the roman forum. Its like....what can the world offer to impress you????? Not super stroller friendly is the only drawback but I don't think the creators had that in mind. Easy in and out of the park was streamlined. Once in a lifetime visit.

Fascinating ancient city within a city. This is way bigger than we thought, and we ended up not seeing everything. There's a ton of history and culture preserved here, so plan to take your time. Also, bring a water bottle! They have refilling stations but no water fountains. Be sure to get the view from the top

The view from up top is astonishing. I submitted my pictures into National Geographics so enjoy and here is some advice on how to really capture the top of the building. Make sure you see the sunset from this location and pay the $5 to go to the top and witness such beauty when the sun sets over the city of Rome. I didn't get to explore the inside too much so I cannot tell you much about it but whatever you do make sure to see the sunset from the top it is one of the most beautiful things you will see. Not only will you get to see the city of Rome but you will get an amazing view of the Colosseum along with all those door call building from this location

Lovely setting, much more to look around than the Colosseum and the queue was far shorter. The information is educational, informative, and interesting. There is lots to look at and see with some great views of the rest of Rome as well. Took some fun pictures and there were places to sit and have a bite to eat to (provided you bring your own). Spent about 5 hours there and was worth the time.

This place is massive! It's easy to find yourself wandering around ancient ruins and suddenly several hours have gone by. We took a tour of the Colosseum and it ended with a brief overview of the forum. From there we figured it would be a brief walk around and then we could get lunch but a brief walk through a garden revealed a whole new section to explore. This happened a few times as we walked around. Overall I would say it's best to go without a map and just go wherever looks interesting... It definitely makes it feel more like exploration which goes well with the sites.

Although we left this sight for the last hours of our trip in Rome, it totally worth the visit. The queue to get in was long but the brilliant ceiling was stunning. What surprised us and made our wait felt shorter was the live street musicians outside at the square playing beautifully the song “Imagine” and the crowd was singing along while the water in the fountain was running quietly on the background. Unforgettable experience!

Loved it. If you are planning to come here please leave a lot of time for the whole archeological area because it is enormous and it takes you several hours to go through it. Pack a lunch (they don't take them away at the entrance so you can take a break and sit down on the grass and enjoy the day), and if it's sunny bring sunglasses. There are also water fountains inside so don't worry if you drink all the water you have with you.

It was from this small area that the Romans made the decisions that molded their empire, and thus influenced the history of Europe, the languages we speak, and so much more. The site is absolutely beautiful to behold, and there is so much to see. From the Curia to the arches, to the mind-blowing temples. Don't forget to visit the upper portion, where lots of people don't bother going. You get a spectacular view of the forum and the surrounding parts of Rome. On a personal note, this place was, along with the Colosseum, the most important thing to visit in the city, and I hope to return one day and see even more of it.

Incredible place... if you only have one day in Rome (I sure hope you don't!), then you should definitely come here. So much history and it's really fascinating when you learn about what happened here. I would advise getting a tour for this section of Rome, as it helps to understand the buildings much better. We are against using tours, but for this place, you really should pay for one. Try to use the official tours though and don't get ripped off by third party tours who have zero knowledge.

Next to the Colosseum building is the Roman Forum of the ancient site. Before reaching the long quarters of the area, hand-sellers are drawn, paintings, Colosseum memorabilia. We arrive in the long line of the entrance to the enclosure, there is a lot of hustle, but the beauty of the enclosure is worth standing in. The ancient remains of ancient Rome, churches, venues, lectures, and gatherings. If you want to carefully look at all the buildings and enjoy the beauty of it, one day is not enough. Extensive grounds and stunning buildings. In order to enjoy the time, we should be there early in the morning, leaving a lot of time for long queues. I am ready to visit this area many times.

It’s part of the palatine hill area which is one entrance ticket. Amazing area which lots to discover. Amazing nature and perfect for a pleasant walk. So much history at one place. Great thing they have everywhere free well water available which keeps you going. Go when it’s not too hot.

While the Colosseum gets much of the glory, the Roman Forum is where so much more history lives. My wife and I used an audio tour from our phones, but whether you use an audio tour or a tour guide, find a way to hear about how the Romans lived. Not as well preserved as the Pompeii ruins, these take a bit more imagination to bring alive. Yet they do. This small space was a center of Roman life and it is incredible that even today some of that lasts. Get tickets ahead of time and visit early or late in the day to avoid lines. There is so much more to see here than the Colosseum offers.

This place is... magical! That’s really the best way to describe it. Admission to the Colosseum includes entry to the Forum. So many time you go to a site because it is historical but then it ends up being very underwhelming. Not this place. Not only is it important for obvious historical reasons, but there is also so much to SEE. The ruins are in such state that you know you are in ruins but that you can still imagine how incredible the place must have been in its height. And the gardens that fill the spaces in between - greenery and jasmine and roses - make you feel like you’re in a quasi-paradise. It was so beautiful it almost felt like a dream.

Take your time going through the forum when you go in. Do some research before you go so that you can appreciate what you are seeing. Remember you must do palatine hill and the Roman forum on the same day- the ticket lets you into the colosseum on another day if you like. Take water and snacks and take it SLOW. There’s a lot you can see from the outside of the forum without paying for a ticket. Worth seeing Trojans column and the different forums from the street perspective. HIGHLY recommend. You cannot miss this if you are in Roma!

In a word: Spectacular! Pictures don't do this ruin justice. The scale and grandiosity is breathtaking. This was the center of the world for hundreds of years, the very heart of the Ancient Roman Empire. See the Colosseum first and then walk over to the Forum, Palatine Hill, and Capitoline. It is very hard to believe all of this was underground until relatively recently.

Amazing placed - Colosseum and Roman forum With Roma pass, entry is free. Kids will need ticket. You would have it from Colosseum, retain and produce it. Rick Steves audio guides are amazing here. We had cut short as my kid couldn't bear the heat.. Plan properly during peak season - sun cream, hats, lots of water etc.. Go early. Overall amazing if you are a history buff

Very historic location. Awesome to walk around the forum to see the ruins of different buildings. Hard to imagine what it really would have looked like and so fun to try! We took a guided tour through here so we were able to learn the history of multiple sites and hear more about the forum itself. Would not have been as good/educational of an experience if we didn't take the tour.

So interesting and well preserved. Our tour guide pointed out the different layers of the forum and also showed us the different between the original bricks and the reconstructed areas that they have restored to look like the ruins. The history behind it is fascinating and I would happily come again. Very hilly though if you don't want to walk up and down hills I wouldn't recommend.

Very impressive. The Forum is huge area. A lot of ruins and artefacts to see. Amazing please is the square at the Coliseum side - perfect view and ideal place to make pictures. Tickets could buy on place or online - preferable. The ticket is combined for Roman Forum and Coliseum and for Coliseum it is valid for two days (not two entries). You can enter Roman Forum with some food and water.

A visit to the Roman Forum is also a visit to the Palatine Hill. You can easily spend half a day on the location visiting the sites and the different museums. If you really like to have the full experience it's advised to join a guided tour. Since April 2018 there are also the S.U.P.E.R tickets, which give access to locations (among others) as the Palatine museum and Augusts house. A visit in the morning is recommended because its less busy and especially in the summer, less hot. For me it's one of the nicest spots in Rome.

My favorite place I’ve been to in Rome. It’s absolutely beautiful. We went 30 minutes before they closed (around 6:30pm), it wasn’t too hot and the weather was beautiful. It’s really neat how you get to walk around the Forum at your own pace and see everything. There’s very amazing views here; it’s definitely my favorite attraction in Rome!

This is more interesting than the Colosseum. The line here is long during the day.... And it's not much shade in the blistering sun. We came back the next day and lined up in front of the gate. The tickets for the Colosseum is valid for two days... This is convenient if you are staying in Rome for several days. We had a good and interesting experience.

At a loss for words to describe how amazing the Roman Forum & Palatino are! The pictures just don't do it justice - do not miss a chance to visit here! It was nearly overwhelming with all the amazing architecture, original ruins and amazing sites there were to see and feel part of here. Without a doubt the best place we visited in terms of history of Rome, it even blows the impressive Colosseum out of the water - you did get wonderful views of it from here also! It's incredible how big this actually is and all you can learn and see! If you're going on a summers day don't forget your water bottle - plenty of fountains to refill it throughout.
