Santa Claus Village is an amusement park in Rovaniemi in the Lapland region of Finland. It was opened in 1985.
This place is Christmas all year round. We visited in January. Everywhere was covered in snow and it was also snowing whilst there. You can meet Santa and have your picture taken. Your option is 1 print of your choice or for extra you can download all pictures and a video. Prices reasonable. Visit the official Post Office of Santa and send a postcard to whoever you want. Your option is to post immediately or they hold until just before Christmas and send. Lots of souvenir shop. A recently opened hotel with cabins so you can stay on site if you want. An Ice bar and several restaurants. You can also stand astride the Arctic Circle. Prices of goods are a bit higher than in local shops. The kids (and I suspect a few adults too) will love it
Picture perfect, as a scene from a fantasy. Being in the Arctic circle is a thrill! You can meet Santa Claus, take reindeer ride, send your loved ones postcards and messages from Santa and so on. A tad expensive but a really unique experience.
Lots to do and see but all of it is hugely commercialised. 40 euros for a digital photo of you sat down with Santa Claus is a bit steep. I thought the post office was a great place, here you can post letters to arrive home around Christmas time. All in all its a must do but be prepared to spend plenty of euros.
Had such a fantastic time. Big thanks to Wish Upon A Star for giving us the opportunity. Will definitely be back
The Village itself was and is very beautiful an family friendly. Your kids will have good time there. My problem is that this year Santa Claus Village was not ready for this amount of people, people did stand in line to Santa up to 2 hours, that is not acceptable. Please make some changes for next year.
The dream of every person in the world: get to Santa's house! I went there in March, not exactly the proper period but it was wonderful, too! There are many shops in which you can find every kind of souvenir. Santa is then waiting for your visit in the main building of the village, together with his Team! Do not forget that in the village you can also cross the Arctic Circle! The most amazing place, according to me, is the post office in which you will find thousands of mails coming from all around the world..just like in a Christmas dream! Well, enjoy!
Awesome place.. March was great time of year to visit this place. Guess there's a child in everyone which springs out in such majestic places. Had plenty options for activities, foods, shopping, etc. You can never have enough of it.
Really magical place! Our 6 year old son had a blast here and we took him to the Snowman Park here the next day to sled and ice skate. Lots of places to shop and eat. The lights and decorations are really beautiful!
Great place to visit all yar around! Other than Santa this is your go-to place for Lapland and Xmas things, be it souvenirs or just fan stuff. Last time I visited, it was off-season and even Santa was not at all busy. Me and my 4-year-old went just to get a glimpse of him. Instead, we ended up having a good conversation with him. Thank you, Santa! See you on Christmas!
It is fun place with Xmas atmosphere especially when we were here it was snowing. The highlight is the meet Santa photo session. They also provide the post office which guarantee you can send Xmas card and receive in coming Xmas. Plenty of souvenirs shops for you to shop. To me the best happen in this Tant Restaurant call Santa Salmon near the entrants Souvenirs shop, the wood fire Salmon is done to perfection and real Yummy!! It was a fun day for us.
It's more for children but still in a way a tourist trap. Some souvenir shops and restaurants. "Ordinary" tourists might like it but really nothing special. The nature around is much more interesting, at least for people like me. Just had a tasty burger and a beer there while being on a bike trip.
Picture perfect, as a scene from a fantasy. Being in the Arctic circle is a thrill! You can meet Santa Claus (who is of course adept in greeting you in your language), take a reindeer ride, send your loved ones postcards and messages from Santa and so on. The souvenirs and purchases are a tad expensive but a really unique experience.
Went to see Santa’s village in May and had an okay experience. The reindeers were closed and so were the huskies so that was quite disappointing. So it’s basically just an expensive meet and greet with Santa if you want to get photos. Santa was lovely though and so were the staff. However there isn’t much else to do when nothing is open except look in the various souvenir shops.
I have order Santa Letter from the office and he website. However, two months past, I got no letters and no reply. I wrote to the office, no one answered. One Santa letter costs 8.5 euro. Is this the right attitude from a Santa Claus office? What a big liar! The track receipt didn’t work at all. The letter is printed, not hand-written. I just don’t know how and why it takes soooooo long for the staff to send it out! Now I ask refund. And still there is no reply as usual. Be careful when you purchase any Santa letters...
Great place to get the Christmas spirit, even in the summer. All year round place to visit and stuff to see and also see Santa and have your picture taken with him. I recommend. Some facilities maybe do need undoing but otherwise great.
Really magical place! We visited December 2017. Our 6 year old son had a blast here and we took him to the Snowman Park here the next day to sled and ice skate. Lots of places to shop and eat. The lights and decorations are really beautiful!
My first meeting with the famous guy who visits during Christmas. I had fun and winter rode along with our little holiday sleigh :)
