Russia has the most beautiful cathedrals. There. I said it. This was the first place I visited and I was stunned. Speechless. The detail. The artistry. The ornateness. The architecture. Even the photos do not do it justice. I had such a great time there. Taking it in. I recommend anyone and everyone to see this.

The most fabulous building I have ever visited... The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood is one of the main sights of Saint Petersburg, Russia. Other names include the Church on Spilled Blood, the Temple of the Savior on Spilled Blood, and the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ. This church was built on the site where Emperor Alexander II was fatally wounded by political nihilists in March 1881. The church was built between 1883 and 1907. The construction was funded by the imperial family.

Tourists abound during the day but at night - drunks, delinquents, beauties. Sheer intoxication parades before this holy entity. Architectural pride protects you, and appears to absolve the ruins of their psyche. I’m embarrassed to witness this year after year. I yearn gauge the progression of society by determining the disappearance (and absolution) of nocturnal depravity before you.

Biggest and the most stunning interior and exterior Orthodox Cathedral in Saint Petersburg. Located in the heart of the city. There is small entry fee which is totally worth contributing to maintenance of the monument.

The pickpockets are very good. BEWARE! My wife had her I phone stolen at the entrance by a team working the area. It was quickly removed from her purse. The ticket people did nothing.

The artwork is astounding in every possible way. It is probably the most beautiful example of iconic Russian architecture / Eastern Orthodox artwork in existence. Stunning.

One of the most impressive churches I've ever been in. Amazing architecture from the outside - and the inside is covered entirely in golden mosaics, from floor to ceiling including columns. Very much deserves a visit - plus there are some interesting historical spots such as the one where one of the tzars was stabbed to death or the spot where a bomb fell during WWII.

It's an absolutely stunning church. A must see places, one of the most instagramable places in Saint Petersburg. Looks very similar to St Basil Cathedral but it is less colourfull. When we went in last April the main tower was being restored, but still it was very lovely.

Currently under partial renovation, so part of the domes are wrapped in white plastic. Still, the interiors are awesome!! All ceilings and walls are covered with beautiful mosaics on the life of Jesus. The entrance ticket is quite cheap. Highly recommended!

This is the most picturesque church in Russia. The Colors of the ace are simply outstanding. Notice the paintings on the walls, which are mosaic. Exquisite piece of work.

The most beautiful church in the city in my opinion. The exterior is of the of unique Russian style and interior is completely decorated with thousands of square feet of mosaics. It is just spectacular! They allow to take pictures inside which is nice. The church is still a working church but open to tourists everyday and it’s a must visit. The exterior of the main dome is under restoration these days but interior is completely done. The ticket is not expensive at all and you can even buy souvenirs inside which goes to the church fun in aid of maintaining it I believe.

Every building in this city is worth a visit, but only if you know the history behind that building. The church on the Spilled blood is worth a visit even if you don't know any history. If you do know why this church was build on this spot and why it has this specific name, then it just make it more of a must to see. The place where Alexander the Second was mortally wounded, this church was build by his grandson. Inside you can see the spot where he fell. The church looks great from outside, but do yourself a favor, spend the money and go inside. The huge mosaics is worth the visit. Another must see in this city.

This is a Must Go and one of the highlighs of St. Petersburg and indeed it's an amazing place to visit. It is an historical church that currently is not in use with religious purposes but in use for tourism. The architecture is just astonishing, it is a fantastic piece of art in every single corner. It gets crowded but is what to expect in a place like this and despite of that it remains very clean and shiny. The inside worth the visit but WITH A GUIDE, otherwise you gonna miss what is really important, the history. You won't regret the visit.

A very busy, overly crowded, tourist highlight - yet you must go. Commemorates the assassination of Czar Alexander II by a cartel of nhilists. Following the Russian Revolution the memorial was ransacked and looted, badly damaging its interior. During WWII, when many of the population were starving under the Socialists, the memorial was used as a temporary morgue for those who died and again it suffered significant damage. After the war and until the fall of the USSR, it was used as a vegetable warehouse (popularly renamed as the Saviour on Potatoes). Bustling with many hundred tourists: the queue for entrance tickets quickly grows from early morning - expect a long wait. My advice is you jump this queue by booking a guided tour in advance. (Official tours have priority entrance, in advance of general public entry).

One of the most beautiful churches I have ever been too. The mosaics on the walls are simply incredible. It’s worth the money to get the audio guide and really learn about it.

Beautiful church though this time parts of the domes were covered in scaffolding... Glad I was able to see it 5 years ago without that obstruction. This time was also during the world cup in Russia so they had a fan zone set up right in front that had many people there.

The Church is amazing, it has what you think are Fresco's that are actually mosaic. It is dedicated to the assassination attempt on Alexander III who left his carriage after the first attempt, to see to his Cossack bodyguards, and then a second assassin throws a grenade, and he died as a result of this. Amazing building.

Such a vibrant city and such a extraordinary church its so vivid and vibrant it's so unique and such a deep history behind. This is a must visit in this beautiful city. Interior is a must not only the exterior!!!
