The Fabergé Museum in Saint Petersburg is a privately owned museum which was established by Viktor Vekselberg and his Link of Times foundation in order to repatriate lost cultural valuables to Russia. The museum is located in the center of Saint Petersburg at Shuvalov Palace (21, Fontanka River Embankment) on the Fontanka River. The museum's collection contains more than 4,000 works of decorative applied and fine arts, including gold and silver items, paintings, porcelain and bronze. A highlight of the museum's collection is the group of nine Imperial Easter eggs created by Fabergé for the last two Russian Tsars.
The idea of creating a special museum devoted to the creative work of the great Russian jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé came to the Link of Times foundation after the purchase by Viktor Vekselberg in 2004 of a unique collection of Fabergé masterpieces that had been owned by the late Malcolm Forbes. Since then, the Link of Times foundation began building a collection of Russian decorative applied and fine arts, which contains more than 4,000 works. All of the Imperial Easter eggs in the museum's collection are connected to the rule and personal life of the last two Russian emperors: Alexander III and Nicolas II.

Located in the very center of the city, easy to get by bus or metro. You can join an excursion group with the guide, or take audio guide or walk around and enjoy the masterpiece yourself. Museum contains several big rooms where you can see different pieces of art made of gold, silver, enamel. One room contains orthodox icons. Museum is not crowded in late autumn - winter period. Good that it's open till late evening (6 PM) even on Sundays. Security is at good level, you will be requested to pass through the scanner at the entrance (like in airports)

If you love Faberge Eggs, then you must come here. There is a collection of the original eggs on display plus some information about the history and maker. It's beautiful. It is fairly new, I think it only just opened when I visited in Oct 2017.

A very beautiful place. But still a regular museium. Wanted to see more eggs, which your could have found in Moscow.

The documentation to the exhibit pieces is tragic. I could not make heads or tails from what the book guide said. Some more effort needed because the displayed pieces are breathtaking!

A must see in St. Petersburg. Don't pass by this museum, it's worth of visiting. Full of beautiful and most exciting things from past history. It's open daily, but it may be good to buy tickets beforehand from their website to avoid queue. One of the best museums ever seen.

Really cool museum, with Faberge eggs and other whimsical creations. If you're interested in them, it's unmissable because the collection is rich, the palace is beautiful and the information is well presented. The audioguide is really worth it - it's necessary to leave a 1000 rubles deposit, so be prepared.

Great seeing the eggs! Pick up a free guide available in the eggs room to learn a bit more about them or have a tour guide. Lots of other great paintings and decorative arts to see, as well.

Having the chance to see on display a high concentration of their famed Faberge eggs when u hardly get to see them outside of Russia.. makes this a very very special museum worth a visit. The rest of the other rooms are average so a quick 1 hr max stop is a great thing before u hop off to the canal cruise with a pier right outside the museum.

Such a wonderful collection it is certainly a highlight not to be missed. Best with a knowledgable guide to get the most from the visit. There is so much more on display than just the wonderful collection of Faberge Eggs which are certainly the draw card. I found the room filled with magnificent Iconography mesmerizing and didn't want to leave.

Incredibly well presented museum in a beautiful setting. Also completely suitable for English speakers with all literature and audio in English unlike most other museums and places to visit in Russia! The same experience for an English speaker as it would be for a Russian. Will probably return again as the Eggs are just something special!
