Great place. One of the fine monuments in St Pete. Lots of people here, all males must remove their caps or head cover when entering; seems like a cultural thing here, am not sure but my Russian friend asked that I do that.

Free of charge Kazan Cathedral is a cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church on the Nevsky Prospekt in Saint Petersburg. It is dedicated to Our Lady of Kazan, probably the most venerated icon in Russia. Construction of the cathedral started in 1801 and continued for ten years under the supervision of Alexander Sergeyevich Stroganov. Upon its completion in 1811, the new temple replaced the Church of Nativity of the Theotokos, which was disassembled when the Kazan Cathedral was consecrated.

Wonderful cathedral by famous Russian architect Voronikhin. Named by most powerful and loved Our Lady of Kazan protecting Russia. Impressive place, especially with burials of greatest Russian officer Mikhail Kutuzov.

Beautiful cathedral. The entry is free. It is important like in any religious places be attentive with the rules and be respectful.

Kazan is an active church and therefore you may enter free of charge. It is, however, not always open, but when it is you can often witness a church service or even sometimes a wedding taking place inside. The interior, like most Orthodox churches, is just beautiful. You should ask the local priest's blessing before taking photos inside this active church.

Go during the evening. There’s something about the darkness and the mix of candle light. Even if you aren’t religious it’s amazing to see the impact Eastern Orthodox has made in Russia.

The cathedral is an imposing structure, it's curving rows of pillars leading to the entrance is what draws you in. The interior are beautiful with its icons a work of art.

Nice cathedral but nothing too fancy inside. If you're there go in. Outside very impressive and its near main shopping avenue
