Mirabell Palace (German: Schloss Mirabell) is a historic building in the city of Salzburg, Austria. The palace with its gardens is a listed cultural heritage monument and part of the Historic Centre of the City of Salzburg UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The palace was built about 1606 on the shore of the Salzach river north of the medieval city walls, at the behest of Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich Raitenau. The Archbishop suffered from gout and had a stroke the year before; to evade the narrow streets of the city, he decided to erect a pleasure palace for him and his mistress Salome Alt. Allegedly built within six months according to Italian and French models, it was initially named Altenau Castle.

Beautiful marble statues line its marble staircase that leads you to an intimate concert hall where you can enjoy classical performances. The gardens are open year round with some flowers, however, the warmer seasons are much more ideal for the view.

So romantic for an stroll and chilling in the park. You can definitely find some quiet zones for a short nap. The design of the park and it's flowers is just amazing.

Beautiful. But if you have seen Versailles, it will fall short of expectations. Statues nothing compared to Italian creations. Overall lovable and settings superb.

Went here for a Mozart Concert. Absolutely brilliant, and didn't go for too long either. Beautiful setting in a building that has plenty of history

It is really awesome place to take pictures and go for a walk. I went to Mirabell Garden in March so many flowers were not in full bloom. However, I could see some groups who took wedding pictures. I recommend you going to the Garden in summer. I bet you really love the place !

Beautiful location, definitely worth a visit. The children loved the open space and especially the playground next-door to the Palace.

Very nice garden. Very well taken care of. In the center of Salzburg. Definitely worth a visit and taking pictures. Within walking distance from the train station and close to other sights.

Stunning, lovely building and lovely big garden, lots of different areas to sit around and relax, even some parts of the garden are away from the bulk of tourists, so it's still quiet. Great place for portrait photos and landscape photos. A must see when visiting Salzburg.

Very nice palace. Has wide beautiful gardens. Close to the city center. Hosts amazing concerts at night.

What type of loser build an entire palace for their "beloved," with a straight face? Like if someone offered me that do you know how quickly I would rob them? It would take -1 minute. Like bro, just pick up some woman off the side of the street for a few sheckles and she'll claim your her true love too.

Its a cool garden with some good designs dating from the redesign in 1690, I believe. Some shady tree-lined walkways with benches made the heat tolerable. Enjoyable, and a cool fountain from the movie, but maybe not worth the walk all by itself.

A lovely palace with amazing gardens. We attended a musical concert in the marble hall and it was great. They have concerts running almost every night.

A must-see for "Sound of Music" fans, this is where the "Doe, a Deer..." sequence and a few other scenes were shot. Even those unfamiliar with the movie, however, will still agree that this is a very picturesque feast for the eyes, from the manicured gardens and quaint fountains and walkways, to the timeless architecture. Expect crowds, though, as tourists flock to this site. Also within a few minutes' walk from other well-visited destinations.

Beautiful gardens. Nice stroll. Many entry exit points so can be used as a beautiful walking street

Amazing place with lot of history and music. A must visit place. Band was playing truly authentic classic music. Historic place and the view is mesmerizing. We entered through front gate from Mozart house side and statues pointing their fingers towards sky welcomed us.

Beautiful. Beautiful and one more time beautiful. Roses all around and amazing smells of lime trees and roses. here you can have good time and sit down to enjoy yourself. Still there are a lot of people and for some it might be disturbing. But what can you do as you are in one of the tourist spots. When I was here in May there was some orchestra playing music in garden. Astonishing.

The water gardens are really clever - must have been mind blowing in the 17th century when they were built! Self-service presentation about the Palace and Bishop now in the Palace, occupied an hour quite effortlessly. I would say all worth a visit.

Here are the locations ‘Do Re Mi’ had filmed! The park is well-preserved and still the same as the music video! MUST visit in a good weather, the weather of the first day was bad (thunderstorms and heavy rain), and it was not as beautiful as the second day with great and sunny weather!
