Mozart's birthplace (German: Mozarts Geburtshaus or Hagenauerhaus) was the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at No. 9 Getreidegasse in Salzburg, Austria. The Mozart family resided on the third floor from 1747 to 1773. Mozart himself was born here on 27 January 1756. He was the seventh child of Leopold Mozart, who was a musician of the Salzburg Royal Chamber.
The museum depicts the early life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, his first musical instruments, his friends, and his passionate interest in opera. The third floor exhibits Mozart's childhood violin as well as portraits, documents, and early editions of his music, and the second floor is devoted to Mozart's interest in opera and includes the clavichord on which he composed The Magic Flute. The structure is owned by the Mozart Foundation.
Good place to visit, to know more about the music prodigy Mozart. But confusing to enter though, as the building looks almost the same from the backside where there is a restaurant located. You cannot enter from that side and they didn't put any indication to the right entrance, which is in the front. I visited it freely with the Salzburg card (25 €, worth the money). Otherwise it costs about 11 €. I wouldn't say it's a great value for that money. You cannot take photos inside. Crowded when I went there. Lots of information about Mozart's life, family and his contribution to classical music. Interesting stuff. They even have a few films and also interactive stuff. Overall it was good.

It was thrilling and humbling to visit where Mozart was born. The building is well preserved and has been turned into a museum showcasing his old piano and history. I'm a great fun of his music, loved playing his piano pieces. The street to his house is quite packed with tourists, plus shops selling Mozart souveniors! Must visit if you're in Austria.

A popular tourist attraction in Salzburg. Historically very important place especially for music lovers who would not miss the chance to see the things the Great Mozart had. Many items have been carefully preserved here.

A small museum that shows the rooms where Mozart spent his early life with his family. A lot of interesting historical facts, as well as valuable objects. A must if you go to Salzburg

It's okay. You get to learn a lot about Mozart's family and the circumstances he lived in, mostly during his youth. It was sad to see heated rooms with the door wide open to the outside. You also need to go outside to go from one section to the other. There is not much information regarding Mozart's work, music and composing techniques, although his instruments are there.

Saying you've been there is a nice thing, but the building looks to be commercialized into a museum. Not much if you're just passing it on the street. Did not attend the museum, although other reviews said it's mostly entertaining for the historic significance and not the content.

Very disappointing. I was very excited to visit a Mozart Museum but it was a huge disappointment. There's not really much to see, no interactive displays, nothing!

It's not definitely a must go place, but for those who loves his history and life, you can try a visit. The place is small and the walking is very limited due to the number of visitors.

Great first impression with the opportunity to see actual Mozart's instruments used to compose. Also interesting to see actual letter from Mozart's father, sister and Mozart itself. What he thinks, what he communicate and how he did it. Indeed an interesting place to visit to understand how a the greatest music genius was born and lived.

No visit to Salzburg is complete without a visit to the birthplace if Mozart. It's hard to imagine that an ordinary-looking building was where the lengendary composer came. It's absolutely amazing to see how everything was preserved. If I closed my eyes, I could almost felt the presence of Mozart still making music upstairs.

Lively little town, pretty well kept and preserved. Pretty awesome feeling to walk in the same streets as little Mozzie

This is a must see for anyone visiting Salzburg. It is the apartment that Mozart was born and grew up in (though not where he spent his adult life) there is plenty to read and things to see to learn about him and his family, and the building is just as it was back then. The shop is fairly priced, as is the entry fee. This place I cannot recommend enough.

Great history! If you love or don’t love Mozart. So much to see. So much history. So much culture. So rich!!
Ari BabanMay 24, 2018
Can't take photos inside... At the end of the tour you will see his last most accurate small portrait taken 2 years before he died. You will learn all about Mozart by asking the security people as well.

Huge disappointment the place turned to a super market on the ground floor and I have totally lost interest to go in at all. The Mozart residence on the other side of the river has much better set up to engage visitor into the life of Mozart and his journey. The birthplace had the worst set up and representation. They need to hire professionals to fox this please.

An amazing place to visit with fascinating pieces. I learned so much that I didn't know! I only wish photography was allowed because I'd loved to have been able to capture all the cool things there were to take in all around me. Still just glad to have gone and seen these well-preserved artifacts of Mozart's life, even if I couldn't photograph them.

Vising the birth place of a legendary musician will make you nostalgic. Very well preserved heritage easy to spot and can be easily reached. No wonder such a musician was born in this beautiful city of Salzburg. It was interesting to know that famous physicist Doppler's house is next to Mozart house.

Historic. Well preserved structure where a truly gifted and renowned composer was born. Located of course in beautiful and picturesque town of Salzburg. This place is a true tourists delight and if you're anywhere close you should make time to visit.

A museum that seems small from the inside but contains a vast amount of information that you probably didn't know in the inside. Would definitely recommend a visit to. However, it's not wheel-chair accessible for architectural reasons. Might be pricey but in my opinion it's worth it.
