The rugged cliffs and rock formations that the waves have created are beautiful. When the tide is out, there are little creatures to discover in the tide pools. The former lighthouse is completely decorated as it was while it was in use in the 1930 era. Lovely family adventure. The over look is fantastic. History in the harbor is very interesting.

Not that it's purposefully hidden. But this amazing place is not easy to find for a San Diego visitor. Tide pools at the bottom of the cliff on the west side of the point. A fun nature trail for the fit to explore. Watch the huge ships coming and going into San Diego harbor. So close you feel like you can touch them. Watch the jets take off from North island naval base. And the incredible buildings full of history spread all over the park. Local or visiting this is a MUST for anyone wanting to know the true story of San Diego.

Not my favorite part of our San Diego trip. Wasn't great weather and we were not there at low tide. Definitely check the tide tables before you go. The tide pools are more interesting then (I'm told). There's some cool geology, rock strata on the cliffs and impressive erosion above. It's $15 per car get in and the pass is good for a week.

This is a wonderful place to visit. There are so many wonderful displays explaining the time of the lighthouse keepers, before and since. Park Rangers are wonderful. Volunteers very helpful. The grounds are kept up beautifully. This monument is such a treasure in our city!

The monument is not particularly impressive, and the weekend wait to get into the park section on weekends paired with the cost of admission--$15 for most non-commercial vehicles, or $7 for walk-ins--make it a less attractive public space than your average national monument. On the other hand, the admission price technically covers a week of admission so you can come back to take advantage of things you may have missed. The tide pools are picturesque with some very cool looking wear on the cliff faces and a fun but short little hike not far from the waters' edge. It would be great if a little more of it was accessible, especially if it meant a longer hikeable distance, but it is probably the most fun part of the entire park definitely recommended if you have kids along. The views of San Diego's downtown and the ocean are pretty decent from various parts of the monument and the lighthouse.

Amazing views of San Diego and Mexico. Be sure to visit the lighthouse and take a ranger tour if you can. FYI you can check-out binoculars from the gift shop desk with a driver's license "deposit". Park closes promptly at 5:00, no exceptions due to Naval orders. However, if you wanna stay for sunset photos take your time driving out and park in the overlooks on the ocean side of the peninsula.

Worth the $15 To get in! It is beautiful there! There is lots of history and just a good place to explore. Not everything is handicap accessible, but most things there are. The gift shop has whale bones that kids can learn about. The lighthouse was awesome- they decorated all the rooms like they would have been decorated back in the day. The stairs are narrow and you can't go all the way up.

You have to pay to get in because it is a national park, but it is only $15 for the entire car. The price was well worth it to me. When you drive in, you can take a road to the right, which takes you to the tide pools and an awesome area to walk around on the rocks. You get close to the water and are able to see some beautiful scenery. When you drive up to the other area, that is where the museum and monument are. Both are pretty cool, especially if you like history. You can walk in the lighthouse and go up the stairs to see the rooms. It is neat. The best part is the views... wow!! You can go to a few different areas to see different parts. Bring binoculars, you may get to see whales or sea lions. It is a great palce to visit for sure!

I love taking our out-of-town guests up here. It's views of the bay and San Diego is great and along with a little bit of history. Just as a heads up, the admission to here has increased to 15 dollars a car. Also, found out that if you walk there, it's 7 dollars a person. So it's best to just take a car if you have a group going.

Great national monument at the end of The Point Loma peninsula. It is a beautiful drive down along the peninsula and you will drive past Rosecrans Cemetery which is also beautiful. This Monument is meticulously cared for and has a huge parking lot so no worries about parking. It has panoramic views of downtown San Diego and Coronado and also out into the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The staff are very nice and friendly. There are great hiking trails and there is a beautiful Museum that you can go to. There are also several picnic tables if you and your friends are family want to make a day of it. The entrance fee is only $15 per car so please go explore and enjoy...✌️✌️👍👍👌👌

Absolutely loved the Old Point Loma Lighthouse! Of course, I am biased as I love lighthouses but honestly, I've been here 6 times and still spend a couple hours every time! Got to enjoy the views from mid-day to evening and they are all fabulous. The drive to get there passes through an impressive cemetery, making me all emotional and the Cabrillo park and museum are very instructive and well cared for. The entry price is per car and not too bad, plan on spending at least 2-3 hours (if possible during week days) and enjoy the drive!

An excellent outing in open air, nice environment rich in history and cultural settings. One can not but remain entranced by the statue of person who landed on the this part of the world and let us have this nice place to develop. So photogenic and with abundant scope to explore the time line. I have the luck to spend 5 hours which I will count as some the most treasured time of my life.

One of my favorite places for an aerial view of San Diego downtown and North Island (Navy Air Station), as well as the sailboats on the Pacific Ocean. So beautiful! Take a drive towards Point Loma & follow signs to Rosecrans Military Cemetery & continue to end of the road (the tip). History abounds this Cabrillo monument. There are various lookout points for amazing photos as well as a theater to tell you all you want to know. A gift shop is there as well with walking trails from their huge parking lot. Don't forget to go to the other end to checkout the famous Lighthouse. You might say this lighthouse helped in the discovery of San Diego & Coronado.

I gave this place a 4 star because their flyers in hotels are not updated for the new price. The flyer states $10 but it is NOW $15. The pass is good for a couple of weeks, so HOLD ON TO IT. The park closes at 5 pm. They will kick you out at that time and close all doors etc. Plan accordingly. The tide pools are only open until 430 and they mean it. There is VERY limited parking for them. Go early!!!!! and be prepared to wait for a spot to open. The path down to the pools is uneven and you need to walk and climb on sandy rocks. Flat shoes with good traction are a must. It is a beach area and you will encounter water and sand (wet and dry). Many people were barefoot. There are many shells, rocks, and rough edges. The views are incredible. The layers of rocks and the heights are unbelievable. A must see place!!!!!!! Plan on a solid few hours to see it all, but remember you can come back another day with the same pass. There are 2 penny machines for those that collect them. I am on my 3rd book. We did not make it up to the lighthouse this visit but hopefully next time and we will try to get there earlier. The drive up to the park is kinda long but if you enjoy views of the city, well worth it. The Veteran Cemetery is on both sides of the street near the park and well worth a stop. The park closes before sunset but the road up there is open. We stopped in the cemetery to watch it one night.

Beautiful location overlooking Coronado, Shelter Island, and downtown. Easy hiking trail follows down the cliff, down and back. Historical light house and military bunkers to go into and explore with interactive reading and pictures. Gift shop, vending machines, and short movies playing throughout day located near the visitors center builsing. You can also visit the tide pools on the west side of the park. $15 entrance fee per car, or walk/bike in for $7 per person - it's a National park, so a bit pricey. Clean restrooms, handicap accessible parking and walkways.

I purchase the national parks pass for seniors which was very reasonable the prices have been going up on them if you're considering getting one get it now before they go up again. They're good for all national parks and there's no admission fee. Nice way to spend part of the day and there is a lot to see. They have a large gift shop also. Nice to go on a clear day for The View and more

Travelled all the way from LA to San Diego through heavy traffic & lots of delays en-route, but the place was worth visiting. This modest hillock offers a fascinating view of San Diego along with the sparkling waters of the Pacific coast. There are many scenic points on the top offering excellent view of the city and the port. It was breezy & chilling up there but dazzling sunlight compensated for that. Traffic management was excellent in spite of big holiday rush. The lighthouse on top offers a fantastic insight into its working. It was fascinating to grasp how the peculiar lenses of the lamp enable viewing of the light even from substantial distances. Many walking trails emanate from the top. Also if time permits, one can move down to the beaches on the west side.

Huge statue and great view of the water. Tourists were all over the place taking pictures and admiring the site. Bathrooms were provided for both male and female. Inside the restroom, by the sink, was a poster asking to not take any flowers. 'Take a picture, don't take the flower' or so it said. The importance of keeping things as they are is very important. A drinking water fortune can be found right next to the restroom.

Only National Park in San Diego. Well worth the price of admission. Parking is ample. The information center and gift shop contain all sorts of informative books, guides, etc. The park itself is large and makes for a great family outing exploring the different structures and their uses during different time periods. You can even earn a Junior Ranger badge and certificate while you learn. Autism friendly.

Worth the $15 entry fee. Cabrillo NM is home to the most southern lighthouse on the West Coast of the United States. There are amazing vistas of the Pacific and Coronado. For kids, there is fun to be had at the tide pools below. Lots of easy-access lot parking both at the top and the bottom. Also home to some government facilities, so be aware of pulling into restricted lots.

Awesome experience driving into the park. Rows of white headstones honoring our fallen heroes 🇺🇸 with an eternal view of beautiful Coronado, San Diego. Once you are at the tip check out the short hike down for a little knowledge on how ships used to be spotted coming into the harbor. If you are a fan of the 🎥 Top Gun, you will see the old lighthouse and barracks filmed there. The tide pools are also a must on a 🔥and 🌞 day.
