Very interesting place. Loved the Miner's Gem shop, so many interesting things that come out of the sound and very reasonably priced. Bought Nibble Chocolate, 72 and 85% that made me a believer in dark chocolate. My husband chowed down on their cookies which he raved about. A visit to the Awesome Hot Sauce store netted us some very interesting sauces for our kids to try. Very tasty and they are generous with their samples.

San Diego is home but this is still a get place to go to have some great Mexican food, especially on taco Tuesday. After you eat, you can walk off your fullness in the old town plaza. The people who work at the museums and shops are very friendly and helpful if you need any assistance. You have a choice from a dozen different Mexican restaurant which are all equally fantastic. Being a San diegian and visiting old town many of time, I have never have bad thing to say q Bout this place. I hope this helps and you give this place a chance.

Always a pleasure to visit Old Town! Park in the lots off Juan Street or off Pacific Hwy for free. Some street parking. Or take the trolley! Once there, it's a wonderful place to stroll around, enjoy the little shops & museums, grab a bite to eat and/or drink, listen to music, visit the historic Victorian homes, find local treasures here from Mexico without having to cross the border! Plenty of restaurants available and some hotels right in the area.

I enjoyed spending my time in this park. It has variety of stores and restaurants to visit here. You will easily spend 2-3 hours just by walking from store to store and checking out stuffs. You will find multiple Mexico related gift items right here. Wall hangings, tiles, souvenirs, aroma, decoration items, clothes, bags and what not. Very colorful and huge collection of gift items can be bought here. A must go when you are visiting San Diego.

Truly enjoyed this place. Rich in history. Parking is free in certain areas. I liked the model of old town at the visitor's center. I liked some of the souvenir shops which had a good variety of items. There are also places to eat with good authentic Mexican food and live music. I easily spent half the day here and would have stayed longer if i could.

Quaint little town. I road the train and met my family to celebrate my brothers birthday. Cafe Coyote has amazing food. Freshly made flour tortilla with butter. Delicious enchiladas suizas and Chicken tortilla soup! Definitely don't leave without trying a margarita, the chicken tortilla soup and flour tortillas!

Visiting old town is fun. There are so many great shops to visit and there is always live music and good food. It is relaxing to just spend the day walking around. I've never had issues with parking. You just have to plan that it is going to be busy and get there early in the day to grab a spot.

My family has been coming here for many years and we always enjoy ourselves. It's a beautiful area of history with some modern touches. You can learn the history and culture of the beginning of San Diego here. There are many shops selling beautiful and original items and there are shops selling the mass produced touristy items. This means you can pretty much find whatever you want. There are several excellent restraurants here serving different cuisines. My favorite is Old Town Mexican Cafe. If you're looking for excellent Mexican food and margaritas this is the place to go!

A must-visit for guests in San Diego, you'll enjoy the historic buildings, decor, artifacts and period clothing. Parking is free, but difficult during busy times. Enjoy a variety of shops, restaurants and museums, but plan to pay extra for food and souvenirs considering the tourist location. Tip: walk off the beaten path and visit some shops with less traffic; you're more likely to negotiate a good deal with merchants who want the revenue! Tip #2: the San Diego Trolley stops in Old Town, making it a great destination, or your hub for visiting other SD destinations for just a $5 day pass!

It's usually a tradition that as soon as the wife and I get off the plane in SD we head to Old Town. We take advantage of the handful eating establishments and grab a great lunch. Have visited the olive oil shop and had bottles shipped back home. Always nice to walk around and wind up at the ice cream parlor for a cool treat. Great environment for all ages.

Wonderful place to walk around and spend 2-3 hours. The shops are historic buildings with shopkeepers dressed in costume. Multiple free parking lots for the historic area. Highlights were the Coffee and Tea shop (high quality tea, they have samples that change throughout the day), the Tin shop (cool star lights), and the book shop. Restaurants within are pricey (of course, because of the location) but if you want atmosphere you can't beat it.

I just loved how people were so nice. And at Toby's Candle and Soap Shop I got to make my very own personalized candle. At Cousin's Candy Shop has really good candy. And even you can see the workers make taffy. It was just a very cool experience. ❤

Having been born in Mexico City and then moving to San Diego, CA, Old Town became a place where I would often visit to feel very much at home, with Restaurants that have the ladies do handmade tortillas made with corn called Nixtamal which is an Aztec word to describe corn that has been partially cooked and soaked with calcium hydroxide, otherwise referred to as cal or lime that makes the tortillas taste much better than the normal tortilla you can buy at a grocery store. I used to go at least once a week to Old Town just to buy a dozen tortillas from the Old Town Cafe just to take home. The stores and merchandise in them are very well chosen, they pick the best Arts and Crafts from Mexico to sell, although their prices are at least double of what you would pay back in Mexico. It has a wonderful ambiance, a lovely trolley that goes all around, a old Jewish Temple, a pretty park, great food, vast photo opportunities, they kept many of the Old Mexico buildings, nice small hotels, jewelries, even a haunted house. Old Town is one of the places I miss the most since I moved away from San Diego and I'm sure I'll visit again when I go back. I wouldn't miss going there if you're in town even for a day.

Family friendly environment and entertaining for all ages. Some museums are small so going in with a stroller is a bit uncomfortable as some walkways are narrow. The staff is pretty friendly and knowledgeable about the history in each building. There are lots of shops to buy souvenirs from at reasonable prices.

It's fun it's historic it's in the center of San Diego proper. Maybe 2 miles from the central business district. if it wasn't for its historical value this area would have been heavily developed. It's like stepping into a western Boomtown scene surrounded by a park. Surrounded by a busy modern city. Some of it's a wee bit touristy. But if you like history and you like authentic Mexican food. I cannot see how a family will be disappointed. If it hadn't been for a local friend, we would never even thought to come here.

Have you been here? Yes parking is a pain on weekends but once parked - now take a leisurely walk through the shops and the plaza, before lunch or dinner. Lots of local history to capture your imagination. Many restaurants that serve authentic Mexican cuisine. Old town is a treasure.

Great place to buy gifts, just make sure you walk all the way around before grabbing stuff because 1. Most vendors sell the same things, exact same things, but at different prices. So it's worth your time to look around and then buy and 2. Although it looks like the same store every corner is a different venue so make sure of what you want to buy. You can't grab something and walk around the rest of the store. This only applies to the larger center "market". Great place to get gifts for people

We spent so much time in the water on San Diego beaches, that we had almost forgotten that land can be beautiful too! Old Town took care of it. Gorgeous houses with grassy backyards, lots of greenery, parks, historic sites, beautiful roads to just roam around and enjoy the uptown feel. Mind you, it's a residential area, so it is really difficult to find any washrooms. We also got a free tour in one of the historic buildings which was pretty cool. They discussed about the people who first came to San Diego and laid the foundation of the city.

There's a bunch of free museums and exhibits to visit in the day time - you can watch people do blacksmith work, Wells Fargo museum, a Carriage house, among others. There are some themed gift shops too. I liked the general store the best since they talked a bit about how it would have been, and tried to sell things that were similar to what it might have sold back in the day. There's live performances all day and in the evening where the mexican restaurants are. I enjoyed the $1 fresh made tortillas, and the taco stand, cash-only.

In 1769 Spanish colonization of California began in San Diego. These are restored and reconstructed buildings. The park has museums, shops, and restaurants. It is very good. Free parking with a limit of 4 hours is available in the area. Fun spot to see the city. Great for kids.

A colorful and vibrant place, and a must do for folks visiting San Diego. We visited this place twice in last 2 years, and spent about an hour to two at least. Food and music are nice too. There was a shop that sold wind chimes and pottery -- that was our favorite place. We just window shopped in rest of the shops.
