Edgewood County Park and Natural Preserve is a 467-acre protected area located in San Mateo County, California, United States, and is best known for its spring wildflower displays. The park receives about 50,000 visitors each year.
Edgewood has 160 acres of serpentine soil which are known for having high proportions of native plant species including rare and locally endemic species. Edgewood has grasslands, chaparral, coastal scrub, foothill woodlands, and wetlands supporting over 500 distinct species, three of which are federally listed as endangered or threatened. Edgewood is also home to the Bay checkerspot butterfly, also a threatened species. Its northwestern slopes have small tributaries to Cordilleras Creek, while its southwestern slopes host the source of Laguna Creek.
Country park that feels more like a state park. Very well signed trails with directions and distances at each junction. Abundant wildlife. Multiple ways to make the hikes longer or shorter depending on how many different trails you take. And very easily seen from the road. Free parking at the entrance. There's an education center, but I didn't get a chance to see it.

Good place for daily exercise. We visited on Sunday morning walk. Did 2ml trekking. There was different route with different miles posted on entrance. Easy for everyone. We mistakenly ( thanks to google maps) reached different part of this park but fortunately we sited DEER on the way.

Parking can be a problem on weekends, but usually there's space up on the road. Grassy park with restroom and tables, but go for the miles of hiking trails. Beautiful, especially in spring. If you go in the late afternoon, don't be surprised by all the deer; they won't run away unless you're noisy or stare too long. Bring plenty of water, a hat, etc. Great for joggers too.

Edgewood Park is a gem. Beautiful views, little foot traffic, and nice diversity of trail terrain, forest, grassland. My family calls it "the nature park" and it's a great way to get a little exercise on the weekends. It also connects with Canada Road, for easy access from 280.

Beautiful trail through the forest and grasses. The volunteers from Bill and Jane Education Centre take you for a 3 mile moderate hike on 10 am weekends. A bit of fog, few sprinkles and some sunshine would make this hike awesome.

The park is beautiful. We went here this afternoon and the sun is out. The initial hike of the trail is quite steep for beginners and kids. We brought our four year old and 1 1/2 and is a little challenge to get them up the trail. Once you reach Serpentine Trail, the trail flatten out.

Edgewood Park is a fairly small hike and picnic area close to both Redwood City and San Carlos. While you don't get fully secluded from the buzz of civilization you can get a decent couple hours of nature without driving too far from those two cities. You can bring kids and expect them to enjoy it too.

This park and natural preserve is one of my favorite spots for hiking on the entire peninsula. The wildflower displays found here are some of the best on the entire peninsula. In fact, it is the best place to find wildflowers on the peninsula during the spring. You will find dazzling displays of cream cups, goldenfields, tidy-tips, royal larkspur, owls clover, serpentine linanthus, lupine, and many other blossoms in the serpentine grasslands. I recommend the Sunset Trail and the Serpentine Trail for the best displays. April is the best month to come here to see the wildflowers. If you are looking for lush carpets of wildflowers in spring and easy to moderate hiking, look no further.
