Most annoying bus ride I have ever taken, from Monteverde to Manual Antonio. The driver kept addressing to us in Spanish when clearly he knew we did not understand it. Started to talk extremely loudly with the other Spanish-speaking passengers to the point where we couldn't even hear our music in our headphones. Wasn't able to sleep at all as he and the other spanish passengers kept talking extremely loudly (seriously, who needs to scream to talk to someone right next to them unless you're in a bar or something). The only other non-spanish speaking couple that were with us in the bus also did not seem to enjoy their time at all, but won't put words in their mouth of course. The driver also kept looking in the back mirror to talk to the other passengers, to the point where he wasn't paying attention to the road and ended up hitting an animal on the road. Yeah, no surprise that happened, when you are not paying any attention to the road you are bound to get yourself into some kind of accident or situation. Pretty reckless, driver did not stop and he + the other spanish passengers laughed it off. Was left speechless. This is without a doubt the most annoying bus ride I have ever taken, and was a 4 hour bus ride so it gets very irritating. I will not book with them in the future and I do not recommend. The only other time I booked with them during my trip was to go to Puerto Viejo. Driver was way too nervous, hitting the gas too much, braking erratically and keeping WAY too close to other cars. But I wouldn't have commented about it if the aforementioned situation did not happen in the first place, that ride to Puerto Viejo was barely "okay", 3 stars on 5 I suppose. But that Monteverde to Manual Antonio ride disgusted me. Reading other reviews online, Interbus seems like it is a bad company who can't hire proper drivers in the first place and has to resort to "taking the proper measures", aka probably firing their drivers who cause them bad reviews. How about having a better hiring process in the first place? How about hiring drivers that care about their job, about tourism? Beware and avoid if possible, not saying all rides with them will be bad, but there seems to be a trend where they constantly have to deal with incompetent drivers.
I highly recommend Interbus! Here is what I liked: -Beto, the one through whom you can coordinate on What's App, was terrific. He was responsive and answered my myriad questions promptly and completely. I must have been such a pest confirming with him three times that my bus was arranged, but he kindly followed up with me each time. -My driver, Adan, drove me from Puerto Viejo to San Jose. What a consummate professional and gentleman. He was courteous, communicative, and got me quickly and safely to my destination. -The bus is swank - near new, comfy seats, very clean, and with a/c. Take this Interbus! It is much easier than taking a cab from the airport to the local Mepe bus, which is older, departs from a shady station, and has no a/c (although it did the job). Traveling by Interbus is a no-brainer and minimizes stress.
Took a little longer than it should have because we waited 45 minutes for a passenger before eventually leaving without them, but the vehicle was clean and appeared to be well maintained and the driver was courteous and professional. Would use again but remember to allot a little extra time if you're planning to attend an event or catch a plane.
Travelled from Bahia del Sol to San Jose 09.08.17. Our Driver was bad. He drove unsave, jerked around on his seat and gaspadel. It was very uncomfortable to drive with him. He reminded on people wirh tics. We reachet our goal, no accident, and he was a friendly guy. But he asked us four times for the name of our Hotel. He should not work as a driver.
Uncomfortable driving, driver drives way to nervous and fast to sit comfortable in your seat.driving like we where late while there was all the time in the world,we got to the ferry 45 minutes early.driving way to close behind cars leaving only 1 meter in between or less and no room for any errors.either full on the accelerator or full on breaks the whole trip.this is not how a passenger service should be.
Interbus was great! Our transportation to and from the airport was arranged through our hotel (Hotel Suites Cristina). When changing one pickup time, we contacted Interbus directly and they answered our email almost immediately with an updated time. We used Interbus a total of 4 times in a week, and each time it went so smoothly. The drivers were always waiting right where we left the airport and were so friendly. They all spoke some (or fluent) English and we felt very comfortable. Definitely recommend using the service to get around if you don't plan on renting a car!
(La Fortuna to Montezuma booked via EcoTerra) Pros: driver arrived early, was polite and friendly Luggage was attached with labels Cons: not a problem as not all shuttles have this. But it was just not as good as ecoterra which gave free water, wifi and
