San Pedro is a town on the southern part of the island of Ambergris Caye in the Belize District of the nation of Belize, in Central America. According to the 2015 mid-year estimates, the town has a population of about 16,444. It is the second-largest town in the Belize District and largest in the Belize Rural South constituency. The once sleepy fishing village was granted the status of a town in 1984.
San Pedro's inhabitants are known as San Pedranos and most of them originally came from Mexico. Most speak both Spanish and English fluently. Due to the influence of English-based Kriol, most San Pedranos can speak English, as well as an intermediate form between English and Spanish that is known as "Kitchen Spanish". It is said one is not a true San Pedrano if one doesn't know how to fish.

Amigos booked us in easily and were nothing short of fantastic. We were five in our group. Three divers were completing the advanced open water through padi and two were new divers completing their open water course. Alonzo our dive master scheduled the dives so that the five of us could dive as much as possible together. He is a top notch guide, calm and cool but methodical and above all safe. His pre- dive briefings instilled confidence and we knew exactly what kind of conditions we would encounter and what kind of marine life we would see. Would definitely recommend amigos and Alonzo for experienced divers and new divers alike! The barrier reef itself is spectacular in its own way. Although not a pristine example of colourful coral, the reef is teeming with marine life and it's not hard to see nearly everything the reef has to offer. Would definitely recommend the deep dive through the canyons. There is something surreal about being 100 ft below the surface while bull and reef sharks circle overheard. 10/10 dive!

This shop did a great job of giving us a fun and safe dive. Staff was friendly. We were there during a busy week and had 12 divers to 1 dive master which was too many as simple items like air checks took too long. Also, this is the only shop we have been to which did not have us test Nitrox tanks before putting them on the boat or even before getting in the water. That is standard procedure elsewhere.

Where to start? These guys are fantastic. Just had 2 days of diving including the Blue Hole package + some local dives. The staff, divemasters and captains are all locals, experienced, savvy and professional. My experience was top-notch and will remember this dive shop as one of the best I ve been yet. You want to dive in San Pedro? This is a safe bet.

Not the cheapest on the island, but excellent service and everything went perfectly for pur snorkeling and Lamanai trip. On Saturday, they were the only ones busy enough to have a trip to Mexican Rocks.

We did the Blue Hole trip, which included stops in Half Moon Caye and Long Caye. They provided breakfast and lunch, the lunch was even home made, including coconut pie made by one of the dive masters! We did snorkeling, and our dive master was always super helpful pointing out different sea life so we wouldn't miss anything. The stop at Half Moon Caye was really incredible for snorkeling and also has an amazing Bird Tower where you can be amongst the Red-footed Booby Bird Colony high in the trees. On our way back to San Pedro at the end of the day they also provided rum punch. The whole trip felt very safe and was definitely worth it! Highly recommended.

We booked 2 tours from Amigos Del Mar. Both were awesome. Tour guides were very knowledgeable and fun. All connections were on time to get to our destination. 2 great days

Amigos is a great dive company if you want to go on further dives. We did Blue Hole and a few Lighthouse dives (Aquarium and Half Moon) that were great and they parked at the national preserve and fed us a delicious lunch of stewed chicken, rice and beans, potato salad, and gave us a couple Panty Rippers (coconut rum and pineapple juice) on the way home. Highly recommend!
