Sandringham House is a country house in the parish of Sandringham, Norfolk, England. It is one of the royal residences of Charles III, whose grandfather, George VI, and great-grandfather, George V, both died there. The house stands in a 20,000-acre (8,100Â ha) estate in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The house is listed as Grade II* and the landscaped gardens, park and woodlands are on the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.
The site has been occupied since Elizabethan times, when a large manor house was constructed. This was replaced in 1771 by a Georgian mansion for the owners, the Hoste Henleys. In 1836 Sandringham was bought by John Motteux, a London merchant, who already owned property in Norfolk and Surrey. Motteux had no direct heir, and on his death in 1843, his entire estate was left to Charles Spencer Cowper, the son of Motteux's close friend Emily Temple, Viscountess Palmerston. Cowper sold the Norfolk and the Surrey estates and embarked on rebuilding at Sandringham. He led an extravagant life, and by the early 1860s, the estate was mortgaged and he and his wife spent most of their time on the Continent.
Absolutely fantastic! Everyone should visit Sandringham as you get an insight into the Queens personal life and her home, it's a beautifully large estate with gorgeous gardens and a museum and stables cafe. For a truly family feel, a visit to Sandringham church is a must. If you would prefer you can bring your dog and go for a walk in the grounds or let the children play on the play ground. There are also restaurants and shops on site too. Enjoy!!

We arrived at 4pm today (a Sat), so we only had time to see the garden , but it was worth it and we'll be back soon to see the house and the museum. A lovely place with very courteous staff. Make sure you keep a map of the estate close at hand. It's vast and full of private areas.

Great place to go and relaxed. You can look round Sandringham or walk through the woods with the dog. The kids can have fun in the play area, then have something to eat in the restaurant or look round the shop

Great place for a family day out. The garden is just simply beautiful. It is well worth to go around it on the longer way as the Stream Walk path is a great experience for all. The house, museum and church hold a lot for young and older who wish to widen their knowledge. Near the stables there is small tea room for a sandwich and a quick coffee or tea. There are also a restaurant and a gift shop for a proper meal and to buy some memorables. A good value family ticket and a discounted senior ticket available.

Nice visitors centre with plenty of parking for free. Nice shop and restaurant but big queue for a cup of tea. Lovely walks and views. Saw some deer as well. Signage for paths etc could be better. How hard would it be to have some more?

A great day out. It was nice to be able to walk around the house. The gardens are great and laid out beautifully. We went on a cold wet and windy day and still managed to have a great day. Allow a good 4-5hours

Really nice place to visit with the family. I went on a really hot day, bank holiday weekend and expected it to be PACKED. It wasn't... Which made it all the better. I think because of the size of the gardens, it spread all the visitors out and made it a pleasant visit. Make sure you take time to walking around to see everything - the pond (big fish!), the stables, the Buddha statue.

Very nice and clean. The grounds are spacious and clean. The house is lovey and full of fun facts . Would have liked to have seen more rooms. A great visit . Would highly recommend !

Love the place and thankful it is all free to the public to enjoy the outdoor. But, it's unbelievable how much litter and dog pooh bags had been left in the park by some individuals, who have no respect to the nature or the others who come here to enjoy.

Beautiful established grounds with plenty to admire. A family day out filled with fresh air, stunning flowers and breathtaking trees. Everyone was very friendly and polite. We especially enjoyed the lake and watching the young ducklings. The museum was very interesting and the house was grand. £8 for two bits of cake was expensive. And the filtered coffee wasn't up to much. However, the kids did enjoy thier ice creams. Highly recommended and we will be visiting again.

How privileged we felt to visit the Queen's private Sandringham House/Estate... To be in the Queen's dining room, and see where she puts her Christmas tree.. All superb... Wonderful gardens, walks, the lake and a visit to the little Church. It was lovely to look round the museum and have afternoon tea in the stable cafe..

The grounds are amazing! The cost to get in was acceptable! But the prices of the sandwiches and beverages was extraordinary considering it's our monarch.

Much smaller than expected but a wonderful house and grounds. Staff in the house were pleasant, knowledgeable and engaging. Entrance fees were reasonable for all you are able to view. The Sandringham Estate itself is free (as is parking) and would be a lovely day out with a picnic. Well worth a visit.

Lovely place to go with the kids. Free parking which is a bonus, you just have to pay to enter the house. Plenty of fields to run around in and a nice eating area.

Lovely grounds n royal house if you like stately homes etc. Reason for us was for large green areas for the boys to run around on the outskirts of the estate. Not too far from the entrance the adventure playground. Something for all ages. Although some aspects require supervision. Cafe and shops plus toilets are located outside the grounds if you don't fancy the house. Plenty for all the family.
