Sandwich is a historic town and civil parish on the River Stour in the non-metropolitan district of Dover, within the ceremonial county of Kent, south-east England. It has a population of 4,985. Sandwich was one of the Cinque Ports and still has many original medieval buildings, including several listed public houses and gates in the old town walls, churches, almshouses and the White Mill. While once a major port, it is now two miles from the sea due to the disappearance of the Wantsum Channel. Its historic centre has been preserved. Sandwich Bay is home to nature reserves and two world-class golf courses, Royal St George's and Prince's. The town is also home to educational and cultural events. Sandwich also gave its name to the bread snack by way of John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, and the word sandwich is now found in many languages.

Friendly cosy fire . Not to be confused with US friendly fire. It is a proper comfortable free house. Enjoy I did and will again.
I came to Sandwich in July from Canada and really needed a cold beer upon my arrival. I walked across the street from The Bell Hotel to a pub (not the Admiral Owen) and upon entering I felt like being in a western movie where the piano player stops playing and the patrons turned to look at me thinking who is this stranger invading our saloon. I backed out so i would not be shot in the back and continued up the street to the Admiral Owen. Upon entering and being greeted with a warm hello, I said i'm from Canada and need a cold beer. " step right up to the bar and try this". For 5 days my ritual included the Admiral on numerous occasions learning about Sandwich and having a wonderful time with the staff and Heather the owner whom I must say have to be the nicest people I have met in years. True historical pub with with all the trimmings. Music, Great Beer, Tremendous Patrons, and the nicest staff is the order of the day. When you go into the Pub, make sure you tell Heather that Robert from Canada sent you!!!!!!!!!
Traditional old pub. No food. Live music on occasion mostly Sunday night.
Best cozy neighborhood pub in sandwich! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. A genuine local hangout, with just-right decor, from the lighting to the couches. No TV, which to me is a plus. Can get crowded on Saturday evening, randomly there was a Johnny cash tribute band (it's a small space for live music, but it works,) its the ideal intermediate between your parents living room and the local dive bar.
Great beer, All in Jim from Time & Tide, no food available but a cozy little place, just like home 👍
