The Three Bells of Fira (Greek: Τρεις καμπάνες των Φηρών), officially known as The Catholic Church of the Dormition, is a Greek Catholic church on the island of Santorini. The church is known for its blue dome, three bells and views. The building is located in the town of Fira, directly above the cliffs which dominate western Santorini.
The site of the modern Three Bells of Fira has been occupied by a number of other buildings. In the mid-17th century, two modest cave churches were built into the then-solid cliff face. These churches were eventually destroyed as the cliff receded (due to the ongoing expansion of Fira) and an infirmary was built. This building was eventually occupied by Jesuits, who lived on the site until the land was given to the Diocese of Santorini. The current church was built in 1757, and then refurbished and expanded multiple times over the centuries. The structure was heavily damaged in the 1956 Amorgos earthquake, after which the building was restored.
Great spot for photo taking. Only pity is we can’t get on the roof top to get close to the bells. One should also backtrack (if you missed them, or proceed towards, depending which direction you came from) to fira to find the seahorse, boat and beautiful planted backyards of houses along the paved pathway where a cat may be lazily perched beside a potted succulent on one of the walls between the pathway and the volcano view.

Excellent place. People come to oia to see the glorious sunset every evening. And this place gets pretty crowded every evening from 5:30 to 7:00 PM with these tourists. I would suggest you to plan your day early and reach oia before 5 pm. This place will be confusing for someone new so use Google maps to navigate. The three bells of fira is a famous landmark and don't miss visit it.

The view of the church from the front lower side isn't too much, as you would only see the sea without the church. I highly recommend you to visit the back side, so you see the blue dome, the three bells, and the sea. I recommend you to visit this landmark.

This is the famous church in all the touristy pictures you see of Santorini, located in Fira. I believe there is another set of churches as well. I give this a 4 stars (all stars go to the incredible view). You can see the church dome from a parking lot, not such a great view. I was still able to capture some beautiful photos. One is altered with accentuating the blue everywhere and the second is without filter.

Popular picture spot by the cliff. If you walk from the cliff side by the restaurant and villas, you cannot see the blue top/dome. Once you are at the front of the court, it has direction that tells you to keep walking, up and around there you can reach the high ground and see the blue top of the church like those you see on the post card. There’s a stairway to the backside to get a closer look/ better angle for photo, but it blocked off for hotel resident access only.

The location on the map is incorrect as it will take you to where front of the church. I assume what you want is the postcard view of the dome. Not the stairs. They have a map stuck on the front of the church if you end up there. Otherwise look up Santorini Palace hotel. The photo place is directly opposite the hotel.

This Blue Dome became so famous since National geography magazine posted a photo taken from here. 900m walk distance from centre of Fira. The view was great and spacious！ However many roads were in bad condition, surroundings are pretty old and limited pedestrian lanes that you had to walk along cars and motorbikes.

The front side of the church, which is shown on Google Maps, is very easy to find as you walk along the caldera, but to get around to the the behind where the famous blue dome can be viewed from the top is not that easy. And Google Maps does a poor job: the viewing spot is not even on the map. You need follow the map as shown in the attached photo, find the Mama’ Thira Tavern, then walk up the stairs next to it( on the wall you will see the signs of “red donkey “ and the “yellow donkey s”(see photo), then follow the signs as shown in the attached photos turn by turn, and you will be there. Remember if you miss the turn you will have walk a long way to get there. The 2nd way to get there is by bus: get off the Imerovigli bus at the blue dome church on your left, then walk up the slop across from it. see photos this is the souvenir store on the street for you to take, another 150 feet down the road, if you find the Santorini Palace hotel then the terrace is right behind you. The terrace in front of the church offers unbeatable sunset view.
