The Museum of Flight is a private non-profit air and space museum in the Seattle metropolitan area. It is located at the southern end of King County International Airport (Boeing Field) in the city of Tukwila, immediately south of Seattle. It was established in 1965 and is fully accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. As the largest private air and space museum in the world, it also hosts large K–12 educational programs.
The museum attracts over 500,000 visitors every year, and also serves more than 140,000 students annually through its onsite programs: a Challenger Learning Center, an Aviation Learning Center, and a summer camp (ACE), as well as outreach programs that travel throughout Washington and Oregon.

Absolutely fantastic! I took my Mom, a former pilot. She loved it! There's really too much to do and see in one visit. Some of the planes are literally the only ones in existence, lovingly restored. The tour by the docent was fascinating. We had lunch at the cafe, which was much better than one could reasonably expect, considering the volume of patrons. I have been to the Smithsonian aviation museum, and I consider this much better.

Impressive variety and huge museum with many planes on display. Cool that you can get in some. Once you think you've been through it all, you get to a new room hanger with more to see. Three stars because some exhibits are quite dated and space shuttle exhibit is not fully open on week days. Price of admission should be discounted if exhibits are not available.

Most recently I was here for an event so I didn't actually get to check out the museum, except for the event hall we were in. However, I've been before and I do every enjoy it. They have a lot of planes to look at, including my personal favorite the SR-71 Blackbird, and a couple you can sit it. There's even a space section with fairly up-to-date space information and the Space Shuttle training module.

It's a must for plane buffs from all over the world. Lots of magnificent aircraft are on display here, both military and civilian. Examples include the mythical SR71 Blackbird as well as NASA planes and the first 747 ever made. They are well maintained and there are also lots of extremely helpful and interesting information available everywhere in the museum. Don't forget that visit to the gift store! All in all, a great day out and why not combine it with a visit to Plaine Field later on.

This place is absolutely a must visit if you're in Seattle. Make sure you dedicate at least a few hours as there is so much to see! I didn't realize how big this place was and went there in the evening, since I had already bought my tickets beforehand I went up to the desk just to confirm. But the gentleman recommended we come back the next day because they were closing in an hour which is not enough time to see everything. They honored the ticket the next day and I was able to e all the places.

I spent nearly 6h in this museum, which isn't nearly enough time to enjoy everything it has on offer. I particularly enjoyed the exhibits on early space flight, the Apollo missions and the aircraft pavilion ( outdoor so dress warm). There was even a free guided tour which lasted 45 minutes where Don Graves regaled us with stories about early flight, the advent of commercial aviation and some more around the hanging gallery. There are several learned deacons walking around to talk to the interested visitor: they're hard to miss is their smart blue blazers. I particularly liked the many penny presses available at the museum; they always make for wonderful souvenirs.

The Museum of Flight was one of the coolest things I got to do in Seattle. It is so impressive that humans go from gliding to space travel in less than 70 years, and the museum documents this well. There are some amazing examples of how dedicated and extraordinary humanity is when we work together. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to check it out, there is a lot to see.

I have lived in Seattle a long time and have never been to the museum. I wasn't sure what to expect, it sounds pretty boring but it was actually pretty fascinating to walk through the evolution of flight since its inception so many years ago. The war exhibit was powerful, sad, and interesting on many levels. I would definitely go back to see the rest of the museum. Overall, I would say this is a must see destination in Seattle.

Super impressive. For both adults and kids. Also, If you have a passion to stop and read/watch historical stories that form the base of present, this is the right place. Don’t miss as well the aircraft simulator you pay a little extra but worth it absolutely .

This is certainly one of the best museums around Seattle. I've always found the staff to be awesome. They are knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions. The artifacts are beautifully displayed, and there's so much information and history to absorb. We take our kids (11 and 6) at least once a month, and I feel like I find something new every time. Becoming members was a great decision, and we'll be visiting for years to come.

This place is phenomenal. It's grown so much in the past 20 years. Wide array of displays that are all very thoughtful, educational, and of course fun for the whole family. Lots of room to spread out. Plan on a whole day and don't rush yourself! Worth every penny. Also consider becoming a member if you plan on visiting more than once; save on admission and skip the admission lines!

VISUALLY STUNNING! There's nothing like full-size airplanes hanging from the ceilings (yes, really). This museum covers airplanes, fighter planes, and aerospace history and the progression of aircraft technology. There is a wealth of knowledge about the WW and other countries' development of flying tech too! Parking can get a little crazy in the summer and there's also a cafe!

You can spend a lot of time here! Beautiful museum, helpful volunteers sharing additional information. Everyone around us young and old seemed very entertained. My favorite part was the control tower, to hear the actual tower instructions and see the planes land accordingly...I could have stayed in there the majority of the time. So interesting!

Fun for kids.... The wow factor! The "space" movie too long for a 5 year old but interesting for adults. The docents are such a great addition, they are so nice! Not too crowded so spent over 4 hours! Maybe could've visited the restaurant, but ran out of time, my little guy loved the flight simulators (upstairs) and the air pressure bottles too!

I visited here as part of a conference recently and was amazed at the extent of the exhibits. There are a few flight simulators here that are a lot of fun for 1 or 2 people. They roll you completely upside-down, so be sure you're up for that if you want to pay the extra fee to try it. I absolutely loved the space exhibit. They have some great pieces here from various missions. And don't miss the Boeing red barn or the flight tower that looks out right over the runway of the airport! If you have any interest in any form of flight, this is a place to visit.

This is a super cool museum. There are 5 or 6 different sections each showcasing something different. I spent about two hours here ( I really read the exhibit info) and I didn't really get to the world war sections or the last big hangar. They do offer a discount ticket if you don't have the chance to finish it all and would like to come back within a week! I'll definitely be back to finish the sections I didnt.

I like aviation, and this museum is great for those who want to learn more about the history of aviation and different types of airplane. There are some aircrafts where you could sit in the cockpit just to get a little taste of being a pilot. I had a luncheon in the South View Lounge where I was able to see the runway up close and some tankers (see the photo). Unfortunately, I was not able to see any planes taken off. I would love to have another function at this location again. A space gallery was added to the museum several years ago. I have yet to check it out. This is an awesome museum for plane lovers.

Awesome exhibits and history. Well worth the price of admission. Huge planes in the outside hangar were neat. Don’t miss the F1 engine, unbelievably huge. The Blackbird on display was a unique version and in amazing shape. Slightly disappointed that had to pay extra to tour inside of shuttle trainer, its only a mock up. Rather pay extra to see the real deal. The Concorde was impressive, even got to go inside. 9/10, would visit again.

Went here with the whole family for a birthday. Had a blast starting from the beginning. Kai greeted us warmly, was accommadatimg to our largish group of 11 and didn't just take our money, but saved us a few bucks with a membership so we can come back again. He was very passionate about the museum and it showed. Instead of wandering around he streamlined us to some great spots in the short amount of time we had there. What could have been a few minutes, was closer to 10, but it really made our day!

Had family from out of town and went to the museum as a matter of course. My step father flew B-29s in Korea and worked on B52s. Theyve got a B29 and they're assembling a B52. He had so many stories to tell and was impressed just that people even cared about all of this stuff. They do such a great job showing off the history of aviation and the contribution that Boeing has made, including a great early space exhibit as well. The docents will talk your ear off and are very knowledgeable. Love this place, it is a must visit!

Great location for learning about all aspects of flight. There are some interactive displays, but the bulk are non-interactive; that said the main draw is the showcase of actual planes curated by the museum. The day is not long enough to see all the events, especially since it's house in separate locales; depending on the era of flight. (Modern/Early), but be mindful of the age of your audience, as smaller kids, will be less interested unless you can get them interested in the actual presentation, or you are willing to narrate for them the display.

This is a wonderful museum except that it feels like you have to pay for everything on top of your (already very high) admission fee. I am use to paying for a movie but, not to see an exhibit while I am standing in a different part of the same exhibit. We were standing in the space shuttle payload bay and wanted to continue up to the cockpit. To our surprise it was $30 dollars more! However, I do think the museum was really great overall. I especially enjoyed the fact that you could hear the sounds of the engine from various planes.

Great place to visit for the family. They do offer discounts. Military personnel can go in for free (ID required). The gift shop also offers a discount, military. Since I'm Navy l, I got in using my ID. I don't know if they offer anything for seniors, but they don't have anything for students. All in all it's a great place to visit for the family.

Must see aviation museum in Seattle. There's lots of interesting exhibits, plenty of space for kids and adults to explore, and a wonderful museum store to shop aviation-themed merchandise. Particularly enjoyed the kids port where small children can play, interactive exhibits, docent lead tours (the volunteers are just wonderful and so knowledgeable) and strategically located benches if you need a short break (the museum is huge). If you love history, airplanes, and space rockets don't miss this place. We plan on coming back after the Seafair weekend. Tips: 1. Visit Georgetown's highly rated food scene first (2-3 miles from the museum) 2. Plenty of parking but it does get busy, and when it's full at the main parking area, head to the museum building across the street 3. Spend time outdoors too, on the lawn facing the runway, and enjoy watching all the airplanes zipping overhead
