The Plaza de España ("Spain Square", in English) is a plaza in the Parque de María Luisa (Maria Luisa Park), in Seville, Spain. It was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. It is a landmark example of Regionalism Architecture, mixing elements of the Baroque Revival, Renaissance Revival and Moorish Revival (Neo-Mudéjar) styles of Spanish architecture.
In 1929, Seville hosted the Ibero-American Exposition World's Fair, located in the celebrated Maria Luisa Park (Parque de María Luisa). The park gardens were designed by Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier. The entire southern end of the city was redeveloped into an expanse of gardens and grand boulevards.

Cool photo opportunity and if you like history you can see some blending between Spanish and American history. Definitely worth the visit if you are already in Seville. You can also choose to make it a day trip by hitting all the other parks along the way and further beyond that park. I would recommend the museum's nearby as they sometimes have free admission hours during the weekdays. Not much to do around until the night scene but until that time you'll be walking through these historic sites!

My favourite place in Seville it is so beautiful. Incredible architecture and design. There is very limited wheelchair access but you will stay be able to appreciate the iconic structure. You can hire a boat to sail around the most which is a lovely addition. It is free to walk around and you can even go up onto the second level for a better view. The park is lovely and I would highly recommend. A local luxury.

Beautiful place. The fountain does not work during early AM times, but come back because its worth it. If you get lucky, there might be some Flamenco dancers you can watch for free. Make sure to bring a tripod for photographers. Its a pretty safe place to be. No need to worry too much since police are on the prowl here for potential hard knock wanna be. Enjoy the scenery. Enjoy the history of it.

This is a beautiful place. I heard the tiles have been somewhat recently restored. There is so much detail in everything that it's unreal. Some of my friends and I did the boat ride around. I definitely recommend doing this too. The fountain lights up in color if you walk by after dark as well. This is definitely a must see place while in Sevilla.

Amazing place to walk around and enjoy the architecture! One of the top most places to visit in Seville... The area is prettu huge with a beautiful square and water canals in between where boating can also be done... Lots of tourists all the time..especially in open weather. Many small kiosks for food, local artists, local musicians etc. around the entire plaza.. Takes a good couple of hours to walk around and sink into the feel of the architecture... Many parks around this place to be walked through...

This is a MUST-SEE!!! One of the highlights of my entire trip! Incredible architecture and design full of history. It is huge! There is a little canal that goes around the plaza and you can rent boats. There were amazing street performer musicians there that were honestly really talented. I could’ve stayed there all day relaxing in the sun listening to their music. There are people blowing bubbles, everyone smiling having fun, and time just seems to fade away. So perfect.

This plaza is an amazing place. I understand now why Star Wars filmed here. The grand semicircle surrounding the river gives the plaza such a majestic feeling. Went here in the morning and came back again in the afternoon. Can’t get enough of it!

What an awe inspiring place. Beautiful architecture and gardens. The stunning tiled seating niches each represent a different Spanish town. The tiled embellishments on both the buildings and bridges are beautiful. The Sevillianos have a perfect place here to meet friends, family, to relax and laugh and talk in the sun. Wonderful.

You can’t come to Seville and not visit the Plaza!! Absolutely beautiful and magical. People can spend hours here. Sitting down reading a book or taking a boat and just rowing slowly around. Or just sitting down and admiring the architecture while listening to Spanish guitar or seeing flamenco dancers. Absolutely beautiful and a must see

Beautiful place that must be visited on any visit to Seville. Fantastic photo opportunities with the fountains and buildings as a backdrop. Spend a few minutes too in the lovely park next to it. Hardly any tourists made it there and we had a quiet walk amongst the beautiful orange trees before having a cool drink in the nearly empty outdoor cafe in the park away from the hustle of the nearby main road.

Lovely place to chill while in Seville. The place is really huge and you can enjoy the Andalusian architecture. There were flamenco dancers when we visited the place and it was really great. Staying late will give you a view of the colorful fountain plus well lighted plaza. Perfect for photographers who love night shots.

If this were a non-free spot, it is still a must in Seville. This is the place that made me to plan a trip to the Andalusia region, and surely what I saw today with my own eyes has gone way beyond my expectation. I'm short of words for its exquisite delicacy, but definitely it's the most beautiful square I had ever visited, incomparable of its kind, such a masterpiece of combined art and architecture, the view from every angle is deeply carved in my memory, how I wish I could give more stars!

A must-go place for those visiting Seville, more impressive than any other landmark in the city. The gorgeous architecture has made to the movie screens many times, notably in Lawrence of Arabia and Star Wars, so the place could feel familiar even if one hasn't set a foot there before. In the center of sunny plaza there's a fountain that certainly helps during those scorching days, but just remember to keep your electronics covered.

What an amazing walk through a historical landmark! The area is absolutely beautiful and is near a botanical garden adorned with plants from all over. The Plaza is Huge!!! It is so large that walking the property took a few hours ( to really see everything). There was live music at several areas in the plaza, including a live Flamenco performance in it's center. The area is full of tourists, which is good and bad because there are lots of little pop up markets to buy souvenirs, but there are also lots of people to get in the way of your photos!

Absolutely fantastic monument. One of the most important historical highlights of my trip, so much history and symbolism, many interesting images, bonus for the flamenco group playing there. The fountains freshening the air, totally recommend! It is bigger than I expected. Loved it.

Such a lovely place. Very pretty and so nice to just come, go for a walk, sit down and listen to some of the musicians (when they are around). You can also rent a little rowing boat to go around the plaza. Half an hour is about €6. Don't worry if you don't get the hang of it straight away. Everyone there seemed to struggle in the beginning, much to the amusement of the bystanders. :)

The plaza was most famous for its appearance in Star Wars Episodes I and II as the Theed Palace on Naboo. It’s very aesthetically pleasing with plenty of eye catching architectural designs in it. The ceilings of the hallways have very elaborate designs and so do the staircases. Be careful with horse manure left behind by the horse drawn carriages when walking out in the areas near the main fountain. Restrooms are directly across the plaza inside a green colored building, and cost 0.60 euros to use.

Stunning place! Definitely a must see when visiting Seville. Beautiful architecture with lots of tailed detail. Boats and horse carriages for moving around. The park opposite the Plaza is worth a visit as well. Beautiful well kept gardens and lots of wildlife.

One of the most beautiful monuments in Spain. Highly recommend! The parks nearby are beautiful. There is a beautiful performance of flamenco ever so often by sime freelance artists. temperature gets very hot so try going earlier in the day to enjoy the most of your trip.

We came to visit the Plaza one afternoon, and we weren't disappointed. It was incredibly hot that day, but we found shelter on the beautiful walkway along the front of the building. I was surprised that it wasn't busy, as I expected hordes of people. The stone-work is stunning, and the building itself is impressive and grand. To make it all even better, there was a group of 2 guitarists and 2 dancers performing some wonderful flamenco. Definitely recommended for anyone when visiting the city. And a part of Attack of the Clones was filmed there, for any Star Wars fans!

Gorgeous space for a wedding. Beware of anyone getting too close to you. People selling fans out front tried to rob the wedding party. Awful people. She sent her kid in as a distraction in the middle of the actual wedding. Literally walking around the bride and groom during the nuptials. Oddly enough they were done playing immediately after the wedding wrapped up. Thankfully the wedding planner was on to her. Super strange.

This is a huge expanse with a beautiful fountain flanked by a semi- circular building. Each province is reflected in beautiful tile paintings. The building is beautiful and has a great park opposite it. People were boat paddling in the water expanse. A very festive atmosphere reigned. A beautiful flamenco dance was performed by expert dancers. A place not to be missed.

Its an amazing place, my favourite in Seville! The plaza is huge and a lovely place to spend an hour or two, you can walk along the main building that goes round the whole plaza, and is covered in individual mosaics and benches that depict the regions of Spain. There are some stalls selling souvenirs and drinks but they aren't pushy which is nice. Overall, I really loved it here, it's a must see for Seville and Spain as a whole!

So beautiful and lively everything I expected! Even on a hot day in Lisbon we really enjoyed this plaza. Everything from street performers to music people selling in the a little kiosks in good food on the water. This is a must see!
