This baroque building (right next to the cathedral) houses five centuries of trade documents between Spain and its colonies. The building offers an elegant marble staircase and large vaulted archive rooms. The rooms are now used for temporary exhibits. Entrance is free.

Beautiful building, although I had hoped to see more of the important documents it holds and get to know more of the colonial history it preserves.

None of the permanent exhibition is in English. Only a film about the history of the building and a temporary exhibition is in English. Looked like it could have been an interesting visit otherwise! Nevertheless, the building is impressive and there are some free public toilets, so perhaps worth a brief stop.
