The Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is a small 1.64 square kilometre (400 acre) nature reserve near the geographic centre of the city-state of Singapore, located on the slopes of Bukit Timah Hill, Singapore's highest hill standing at a height of 163.63 metres, and parts of the surrounding area. The nature reserve is about 12 kilometres from the Downtown Core, Singapore's central business district.
Together with the neighbouring Central Catchment Nature Reserve, it houses over 840 species of flowering plants and over 500 species of fauna. Today, it is one of the largest patches of primary rainforest left in Singapore. The forest reserve was formally declared as an ASEAN Heritage Park on 18 October 2011.

Really nice place for outdoor exercise and being with nature. Singapore is very small and can sometimes feel lacking in outdoor exploration opportunities but this can offer a bit of a reprieve. Quite a few different hiking/walking paths, as well as mountain biking trails. Good place for families to spend the day. It's very popular on weekends and lots of people around. There are some routes that are a bit more challenging in terms of the elevation gain, but anyone with lots of experience outdoors might need to do repeats of routes to really feel a burn. Many opportunities for beginners too.

A nice hike that's not too strenuous. If you are looking for an easy hike this one is for you. It's not too steep or long and it's completely shaded by tree canopy. The trail itself is free but you do pay a small bit for parking. The main path is wide and made of rough concrete so its safe even when wet from rain. The main path also doesn't include stairs so they are safe for almost anyone. Going at a normal pace I think it took around an hour round trip. The scenery is made up of thick vegetation with an occasional monkey or squirrel sighting. All and all this was a pleasurable side trip if you have the extra time for a hike

The highest place in Singapore with primary forest surrounding it. However do not expect a view of Singapore at the peak. There are many trails. The dairy farm loop with its step stairs being the most challenging IMHO. Take the main road from the visitor centre to test those legs of yours. Half a day should be sufficient.

An excellent trail! The forest canopy provides the cover you need from sun and rain. Bring at least 600ml of water - you will lose a lot in perspiration ascending the summit. The paths are clearly demarcated. The steps are mixed between steel and railway ties. The grade is relatively steep when following the non-tarmac trail, so expect to get a great interval workout, regardless of you walk or jog. A little advice: take your headphones off if you’re accustomed to running or walking with music on - the Natural sounds coming from the forest surrounding you needs to be appreciated. I believe it makes it more enjoyable.

Lovely forest trail not too far from the city. The gradient is steep on the main route but there are alternate easier routes to take. Well maintained. Look out for some nocturnal creatures like the Malayan Colugo sleeping on the trees.
