The Marina Barrage is a dam in Singapore built at the confluence of five rivers, across the Marina Channel between Marina East and Marina South. First conceptualised in 1987 by the late Lee Kuan Yew, the Barrage started construction on 22 March 2005, and was officially opened on 31 October 2008 as Singapore's fifteenth reservoir. It provides water storage, flood control and recreation. It won a Superior Achievement Award from the American Academy of Environmental Engineers in 2009.
The S$3 billion project turns Marina Bay and Kallang Basin into a new downtown freshwater Marina Reservoir. It provides water supply, flood control and a new lifestyle attraction.

An ideal place to spend weekend with your family and friends!! It is situated on the banks of Singapore. Here you can enjoy freeways for bicycling, classy location fir kite playing, huge green lush surrounding to just seat back and enjoy the view of Marina sands Bay, Singapore flyer and Garden by the bay!

Excellent spot for kite flying, particularly high-flying single string numbers rather than stunt kites (not enough space and lots of innocent bystanders). Also great for picnics and sunset views of the city. Accessible by means of an elevator. Basic cafe, drinking fountains and public toilets nearby so really family friendly.

One of the best place in Singapore to view all skyscrapers including landscape view of city. Awesomely placed at height to get clean and beautiful wind to get just relaxed. And of course to enjoy kiting.

Beautiful scenery. Hard to get to. Only one bus number goes here. Great for families to enjoy a weekend of kite flying or playing with water fountains here. Beautiful structure of building. Great for wheelchairs as well since lifts are available. Nice for just relaxing and reading or just watching the sky or view. Sometimes events are held here as well so great to see that too. It's mostly quite crowded on weekends. Especially in the morning and afternoons as when evening time comes near the view is harder to see. There are small shops around too. And there are a few restaurants too but a meal is about $6 and above. Great for a romantic time of bonding with the lover. And great for families to just be with one another. :)

Great place for families to enjoy a picnic and some kite flying. The area is one of the best places to capture photos and footage of the Singapore skyline with a drone but do note that it is pretty windy and has quite a bit of magnetic interference if you're not a confident drone pilot!

Came here with my friends for a picnic yesterday and it is a really good place! Very nice to see people fly kites and having picnics, and even jogging around the area. Definitely one of the best places if you are looking for a chill area. (might be very hot in the afternoon tho!)

It's a bit of a commute from the MRT station unless you plan to take the bus, but worth the visit. There was some construction going on when I was there, but the view from the third floor is totally worth the trip. I only wish the platform was longer (or that I had a camera phone capable of wide angle) so I could capture the entire skyline to the flyer. Awesome place to have a picnic, bathe in the sun or fly a kite.

Nice place for picnic or family time on the weekend. But prepare yourself for the crowd on the weekend. The wind very strong here. And also bring your kite if you got one!

I can't find better place then this in whole Singapore for family gathering... And you see that's best part that people gathered here not for just kite flying but as well family and friends dining here under the beautiful stars.. Really having a beautiful time here...

A nice place to have a good view of Marina Bay and the sea. Breezy throughout the year. Young families, friends gathering. Bicycle pit stop for water, toilet, ice cream. Big green grassy field on top of a nice artistic structure. Top location for kite enthusiastic. Kite shop on site. Good place for photo opportunity.

Marina Barrage is like this hidden, beautiful gem with a stunning view. It’s open 24x7 and is the perfect place to hang out with your friends or family. You can ride bicycles, fly kites or embrace the beauty of the scene. One can capture fantastic pictures of the flyer and Marina Bay Sands. Take out some time and relax!

A perfect place to enjoy panoramic and frame-like view of Singapore's iconic buildings and structures such as the Singapore flyer, Marina Bay Sands, Giant trees of garden by the bay and more. With vast open spaces and unflanked on all sides; the Marina barrage provides visitors a majestic yet calming surrounding experience with family and friends. Channel your inner spy and fly your super expensive drones all around the barrage rooftop open area or have laughable time as you fail time and time again trying to lift off a giant kite or drop to the ground and roll about on the grass with your best friend B.I.N.G.O. Whatever you choose to do, the Marina barrage allows you to express yourself. I'm adding useless words to make up the numbers but I hope you enjoy yourself at...The Marina Barrage.

Great place to enjoy a sunset and relax with friends. Would recommend walking along the water towards the food centers that are not far way. Hope to revisit this area to fly a drone sometime as the views of the nightlife are amazing.

A nice place to visit with family. Weekends see many people flying colourful kites here. It is a good walk away from the main road and the MRT, but the walk along the water on one side and Gardens by the Bay on the other offers nice views. During quiet time, you may spot otters from here.

Wonderful place to learn about water as well as to enjoy scenery. Can see the source of life into Singapore from course of Singapore river. The wonder of being able to stand on the barrage that separates sea water from fresh water. Source previously used for commerce, now for sustaining water and life. For those who are able to rent bicycle or have a bicycle, there are cycling tracks apart from walking/jogging track to move around. Also Satay by the bay - open air food court to make up for the energy lost.

The place is a scenic wonder and energy powerhouse. Best go on a weekend evenings. You will see kites of all sizes and designs flying high. People of all ages and nationality having a whale of a time together- as one. Unless you are interested in the eco aspects behind the barrage, better plan it as first stop before moving on to satay by the bay and ultimately Gardens by the Bay. All within walking distance. Tourists take note. Gardens is really the Crown Jewel. Allocate at least 4 hours.

The place is really nice. Very well kept and the toilets are really clean. The tour guide was very good. The only thing was getting to this place is very problematic if you are taking public transport. Other than that. This is a very nice place
