Raffles Hotel is a colonial-style luxury hotel in Singapore. It was established by Armenian hoteliers, the Sarkies Brothers, in 1887. The hotel was named after British statesman Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore. It is the flagship property of Raffles Hotels & Resorts, a subsidiary of Fairmont Raffles Hotels International which is owned by french multinational hotel group AccorHotels. Raffles Singapore has commenced on Phase 3 of a three-phase restoration programme on 13 December 2017. The hotel is now fully closed with a planned reopening in the second half of 2018.The original Singapore Sling experience is now served at a pop-up Long Bar located at 3 Seah Street, next to the Raffles Gift Shop which remains open throughout restoration.
Great historic hotel, very well restored. Have been a couple of times now over the years, very much enjoyed a Singapore sling one evening then afternoon tea in the old traditional way in their tea room, fabulous experience well worth the cost, highly recommend this place for a visit.
One of the most gorgeous hotels we have visited. It is historic for being the home of the Singapore sling. Note: You can actually get a discount on the Singapore sling if you get it at afternoon tea instead of just ordering it at the cafe. The hotel is undergoing a lot of renovations and construction. They also have a strict dress code for the afternoon tea
One of the most beautiful experience you can have going in Asia. The hotel is an old a well maintained colonial building. The service is extremely professional and the rooms are fantastic. Breakfast is simply outstanding. You can really feel oriental luxury everywhere and you will not be disappointed to stay here a couples of nights. Absolutely to do when going in Singapore for holidays (or business as well!)
Iconic place easily accessible by public transport. Going through renovation. But looks like going to finish soon.
Splendid architecture. Free museum on the third (topmost) floor. Has some good restaurants and shops too.
