The National Motor Museum (originally the Montagu Motor Museum) is a museum in the village of Beaulieu, set in the heart of the New Forest, in the English county of Hampshire.
The museum was founded in 1952 by Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu, 3rd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu, as a tribute to his father, John, 2nd Baron Montagu, who was one of the pioneers of motoring in the United Kingdom, being the first person to drive a motor car into the yard of the Houses of Parliament, and having introduced King Edward VII (then the Prince of Wales) to motoring during the 1890s.
Great collection of classis cars and motorcycles. Also a very interesting selection of movie and television cars. Fun Top Gear special exhibition. Cafe was nice- bathrooms clean- grounds well taken care of too. If you buy online you can get a year membership for the price of one visit.

Great place for car lover's. Also in the Summer time the rest of Beaulieu comes alive. 1st visit in over 15 years and how the place has changed and for once it has worked. There is something for everyone. If you want a good day out as a family, couple or a single traveller. We won't be leaving it as long before we visit again.

Booked online to join the Simply Smart event but as I had upgraded my phone and lost the email with my ticket on I had to pay the full price in cash to get in. I was advised to write in to ask for a refund, which I found rather unhelpful. Luckily I had some cash on me as the queue behind me were getting irritated at the hold up. I have not yet followed up on getting the refund, but I suspect it will not be as straightforward as implied! Once in and parked the event was good and walking round the exhibits was fun, bringing back memories of childhood and great adventures in different vehicles. The cafe was good with lovely coffee on a chilly day and a hearty hot lunch to keep the cold out. The place was clean and tidy with plenty of seating inside and out. The staff were helpful and polite which made a present day out with the one fly in the ointment! I hope to attend again but will aim to print out my ticket as soon as I receive the email in order to avoid any repeat of the same.

Really nice museum! Perfect option for cold winter or rainy days! Fantastic for all car fans from all ages! I enjoyed our visit and would go back again. It could be tiring though, cause the museum is big with many rooms and spots and not so many options to sit and rest. However it is worth it! Totally recommend!

An excellent place to visit if you are even the slightest bit interested in cars. An awful lot to see, but take your time and take in the details of the exhibits. Great if the weathers cold or wet because it is mostly indoors. The staff were very informative and welcoming. The restaurant served good lunchtime food at a reasonable price, nothing was too much trouble for them. All very friendly and pleased to help.

What an amazing museum. Went here recently haven't been since I was young. But still blew me away. So many iconic cars and a lot of history. Well worth a visit for any enthusiast. House and gardens big asset and live theatre to be involved with 1st class. Charming.

Great day out for all ages with enough to take up an entire day. From the motor museum, secret army museum and the top gear exhibition to the abbey grounds and Palace House. A vintage bus ride and monorail also included with the ticket and includes a return to visit everything one more time and free entry to the motor museum for upto 12 months. We felt the menu in the restaurant was lacking options but it wasn't overpriced either. If you haven't been here, I'd definitely recommend at least once.
Daniel SmethurstApr 26, 2018
An absolutely stunning collection of vehicles from steam through to modern day electric. Too much to see in one day but ticket allows multiple access during next 12 months so we will be back. On a nice day the grounds are brilliant for a picnic and the house and Abbey ruins worth an explore. It seems a little expensive but so much to do it works out as good value per hour.

A good day out but a bit pricey. - A great setting, especially in good weather when you can make the most of the grounds. Plenty to see for a motoring enthusiast, everything is well presented and with lots of interesting information available around most all of the vehicles. The Secret Army Exhibition was interesting too. Only slight criticism would be the entry fee which to my view is a bit pricey; it's fair bit dearer than Brooklands, which is local to me and I'd say a comparable family day out.

Brilliant day out! The motor museum very impressive with beautiful cars, bikes and other vehicles all in splendid condition and gleaming with polished brass and chrome. The exhibition is cleverly displayed with age relevant sets and memorabilia. Lots of interesting information and screened footage. Here and there you can interact ...Dress up in vintage clothes and get a photo in a classic car! From horseless carriages to super cars, something for all motor enthusiasts to enjoy. The sky train is fun and there is an old 1900s bus you can ride. We didn't have time to do the Abbey, gardens or the Top Gear exhibition, but happily can return for free within 6 days, so will be returning!

The National Motor Museum is a very interesting place to visit if you are at all interested in the history of the motor industry. There are 100's of cars, motor cycles on show for you to admire along with the appropriate information. There is also the house to visit which was the home of the Beaulieu family for the past 5 centuries. There is a mono rail and a very old double decker bus that will transport you around the grounds for free. The cafe is modern, very clean and has a good selection of either hot or cold food available at reasonable prices. There is plenty of free parking available.

Great day out with lots to see and do for all ages. Whilst the motor museum is still the main attraction, don't miss out on the house and the spy training area. The price may seem high but don't forget this is an annual ticket that gets you back in again, also free if it's within the next 6 days. Whilst there is a good selection of drinks and food on offer, I would recommend taking your own - £5.40 for a sandwich is a bit much. Parking is on site, and you can easily access the town centre if you want to see more of Beaulieu.
Robert YoungMay 27, 2018
Extensive collection of impressive and rare cars stretching back in time to some of the first and most influential. Friendly and helpful staff with good knowledge behind the exhibits. There are excellent provisions to keep small children entertained and the Café is very accommodating. There is a monorail to tour you around the main grounds along with a vintage bus that can take you towards the Palace House and Abbey. Entry also gains you access to the gardens to meander through along with options for the Palace House, the Abbey and The Secret Army Exhibition. Although not on when we visited, the museum hosts a number of large events throughout the year. A great place to go particularly if someone in your family has a passion for vehicles, although entry tickets are on the pricey side (£24.75 on the day, or £19.50 online advance). This does however gain you a free repeat entry within 6 days, or a year if you also opt for Gift Aid. Small children are free, students, seniors and armed forces are offered a small discount.

Had a fantastic visit here just at the start of summer. We drove down to arrive just after it opened at 10.00. The roads as you get to it are quite small at the edge of the new forest and we had to wait for a bull to cross the road, and for a family of horses to walk down the main road across the Beaulieu River, but the local scenery is gorgeous. We saved about £15 by booking a family ticket online before we made our visit, and so it was about £50 for the four of us. We went on the monorail which gave a nice view of the grounds and also went through the top of the exhibition hall, and which took about 10 minutes. The Top Gear show was just clips from the show, fun to see again, but not any new material. You do get to see a lot of the vehicles from various episodes though, which was good. The main exhibition is the star attraction here though, and has a lot to see. There are the cars, and also rooms with lots of vintage posters, photographs, and advertising artwork, all with a lot of information to read and some wonderful motoring accessories and objects, like old driving clothes, garage signs and even vintage fuel pumps. You could easily spend upwards of three hour or more here if you try to see everything, so if you have young kids you may find they will be finished a long time before you are. We had sandwiches in the cafe for lunch and paid about £35 for four of us, so not too expensive, and I bought enough car related birthday and Christmas cards in the gift shop to last the next five years. It could be suggested that there is scope to modernise the exhibitions a bit and to have more use of videos or displays to show information about the exhibits, but it's certainly a wonderful collection and well worth a trip.

Great place to visit in the New Forest. Lots of cool old cars and bikes in the main museum building, but lots of other attractions; An old open-top bus can be ridden up to Palace House and beyond. The monorail circles the estate for a birds-eye view. Other on-site exhibits include the war effort, top-gear world (better than it sounds!) Events are very well attended, and cover all aspects of motoring in the UK. Watching the 80+ year old Sammy Miller blasting around a makeshift racetrack like a nutter on a 1960s six-cylinder 250cc racing bike was quite a sight to behold Hearing loss was only temporary - those old bikes are crazy loud!

Next time you are in Hampshire you have to visit the National Motor Museum. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The exhibits are amazing. I have been a few times recently and every time I spot something I missed the last time. You also get access to the grounds and the House which are also worth seeing. Food in the restaurant is up to a high standard, which considering the amount of visitors they have to deal with is amazing. The shop has a lot of souvenirs at reasonable prices. As I said it is a must see when in the area.

Much more than a motor museum. Beyond the very well turned out and displayed car there is also the rest of the grounds to explore. Full of wildlife, wandering through the trees down to mill pond is such a great way to unwind. Then there is the palace house, with staff in period costume and such lovely well decorated rooms with lovely panel work and interesting pieces. And for a bit more history there are the abbey remains. And to top it off the gardens are very well kept. Only down side was we were confused by the cafe layout.

Cracking place... Well worth the money It was one of those places I wanted to visit and it's taken me 5 years to get through the door. Expect to spend a whole day there... Fortunately for us the day was quiet so we were able to see all the attractions without having to queue. Lots for the kids to do... They won't get bored and I would suggest taking a picnic as there's plenty of areas to sit on grass or benches scattered around the site. A trip into the house is lovely... And also the priory.. Lots of history to both. Great for dog walking as well so take your pup along for the day. They can't go in the museum or house but lots of space to let them be with you for the day
