It's lovely place to be there to understand and know little more about place and historical facts. I have visited there on one Saturday to understand more about contribution of Southampton and its people in various maritime development and it offered me to my expectation. I found staff warm, cordial and welcoming and helped and guided me through various rooms. In its own, it contain details of its transition through various periods in its history of 800 Years, especially kitchen side and food habits and behaviours. It also contain a lovely garden. However, it was closed unfortunately due to accumulated ice and for the safety point of view. I enjoyed being there and would certainly recommend.
Really interesting. It may not look like much from the outside, but there's lots to see inside. Lots of history about Southampton through the ages. I would recommend you pick up an audio guide as it gives a lot more information. Suitable for all ages. Doesn't quite take up a whole day, just a few hours.
This museum is beautifully presented. My 5-year-old particularly enjoyed the screens you can rotate to get information about different parts of each room. There are dress up clothes for the kids and they often run children's activities in the school holidays. We had a lovely morning, completed by a delicious lunch in the cafe (they even made ham and jam sandwiches especially for my son - his favourite).
A fantastic museum, with interesting and innovative approaches. It would keep young and old happy! The cage was very good too. Reasonable prices all round too. I'd definitely say add it to your list.
Went on Southampton WW2 Blitz tour starting at the Tudor house. Very informative and learnt a lot more than I thought I would. Makes you look at the City with fresh eyes. Would recommend.
Highly recommended if you need to visit historical building! And beautiful garden they have.
Great place to visit interesting displays and helpful staff. Nice coffee shop lots of history and close to the centre of Southampton.
We had a very enjoyable visit. Interesting piece of local history., well laid out, great signage and auditory infomation at each station. Lovely gardens.
Lovingly restored house from the Tudor /Georgian/Victorian periods, steeped in history. Admission includes an audio guide to take you around the house without missing anything. There is a café where you can buy refreshments and look around the Tudor knot garden.
Lots of information and things to look at. Lovely gardens and a nice cafe. Downside is its only open a few days. We came to visit the week before on a Friday to find it didn't open Fridays. Luckily we were back in the area the following Saturday and got to visit. Reasonable price and discount for English heritage and historic Scotland cardholders.
Very interesting museum. The history in this house goes back a long time and the neighborhood is also very quaint. Enjoyed the time spent in this attraction.
Excellent museum. The house is well set out with information and knowlegeble staff. The gardens are also lovely. A major part of it's charm is the childrens room which has historical puppets to take around the house and children's baskets which contain magnifying glasses etc. to allow children to explore fully.
