The D-Day Story (formerly the D-Day Museum) is a visitor attraction located in Southsea, Portsmouth in Hampshire, England. It tells the story of Operation Overlord during the Normandy D-Day landings. Originally opened as the D-Day Museum in 1984 by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, it reopened as the D-Day Story, following a refurbishment funded by a £5 million Heritage Lottery grant, in March 2018.

Nice museum, clean and friendly staff. Quite pricey for a small place but it does have some unique and informative exhibits.

Great recent revamp of this museum. Plenty to look at that is well presented and engaging. Very modern feel and interactive in places. Some nice video screens and computer stuff to have a go at. A slightly sanitised view of the campaign so very child friendly.

Interesting displays but all crammed into a small area. The video shows are in tight walkthrough areas so people are walking through the area. The price was very steep considering the small amount on display. The tapestry was very interesting and well presented.

Fabulous transformation! High quality displays tell a fascinating story. £10 entry on the steep side.

Fully refurbished with interactive, film archives and actors playing personnel of the era. Well worth a visit and £10 is a reasonable price to pay. Some work outside to still be carried out

I think whilst work is still in progress there should be reduced entrance fees...visited 6th April & think best part for me was the applique tapestry.....did wonder what my parents & grandparents would think of spending millions of £££s on a place to house it though ! My Dad was on Queen Mary during WW2 & my Grandad was at the Somme in WW1 x

Nice museum but horrendously overpriced. It's quite small but the objects on display are interesting and the stories quite compelling. The vehicle displays are impressive, and I found the veteran association display very nice. I would go if you are interested in D-day and want to see what our veterans went through. Nice video displays, if not a bit loud (they do offer quieter visit times where they raise the lights and turn down the audio). The car park is well... daylight robbery. I am glad they are keeping up the English tradition of highway robbery just without the horse, mask and musket. You would think you would get a concession when visiting the museum. On my visit, half of it was shut for an event on the common anyway. As you would expect, the gift shop is very, very expensive.

A very interesting place. Extremely well kept and presented exhibits, with plenty of interactive displays - suitable for both adults and children. Great value for money. I would highly recommend the D-Day Story.

Brilliant museum for the whole family very good use of up to date technology and fun things to for kids to do. But not to childlike for the older generation. And the D Day tapestry was great. Been to Bayeau and D Day beaches so get to have some where on this side of the Channel to explain to the start of the story.

Interactive museum with great history told through survivors and veterans. Amazing place with thoughtful exhibits. Even has child friendly exhibits. Models and real memorabilia mixed in with photos and videos. Plenty to read and watch. Tapestries are also amazing to see.

This museum was amazing, very heartwarming and heart breaking too. Many emotions felt walking around and imagining how things were back then. Lots of interactive things to do and I actually managed to get a stronghold in France to move my troops on, can't imagine how the war cabinet made their decisions and they succeeded by their actions. Always remember those who fought so mercilessly for our freedom, forever in debt. The tapestry was mind blowing, so beautifully made and a great mark of respect to those who made D-Day possible 😊

The DDay story is so worth a visit. There is so much to see and the Overlord Embroidery is phenonimal. The work put into it is so precise. The whole building and its contents are a credit to all those men and women who had part in protecting our Country. The displays tell their stories perfectly.
