Use a guide, some trails are not for beginners. Bus spectacular view on the bay.
Taking the Pype track from Kloofnek to Kasteelspoort, is one of my favourite hikes
I absolutely love this trail. Bit easier than Platteklip gorge, but longer. It is however very scenic and has amazing lookout spots and exceptional photo opportunities. Look out for the Himalayan Tahrs roaming around. I am yet still to find them. Best photo spot is the diving board. Don’t go if it’s windy and always be prepared!
Serene, beautiful, great views, good hike.
Intense but definitely worth the effort.
First of all, one has to define the objective of the hike. My objective was to get to the look out point, overlooking Camps Bay, i didn't know the route so i took the cable car and followed the map that i had. After getting to the hanging rock (look out point), i descended via the Camps bay side to Theresa street at the bottom, where i took an uber to the Kloof nek parking. For those who want to go to the look out point, the shortest route will be: 1. Park the car at any safe convenient place, Kloof nek or Camps Bay. 2. Take an uber to the top of Theresa Street, where the route starts with a clearly marked National Parks Map. 3. Follow this 4x4 track following the Kasteelspoort signage. the route will change from the 4x4 track to the hiking trail. 4. Follow the trail along the mountain, you will pass a National parks No Entry sign, prohibiting you from turning left up the erosion galley. 5. Follow the path, it will take you to a point where you start walking in between the two mountains (apostles). From here you should be seeing the hanging rock on the top of the right side mountain. 6. Proceed until you see the two buildings in front of you and at this point you should be at the route indicator point. Turn right, walk for a few meters est 100m- 200m and right again to the hanging rock. You can take all the pictures you want and have your refreshments on the flat rock opposite the old winch or on the winch platform itself. 7. Decide if you will go back same route or proceed to the Cable car station. Cable car station will take you 2hrs or 2.5 hrs depending on how much energy one still has left. 8. On the cable car route, take the one on the far right to enjoy the views of the City bowl, Cape Town stadium, Lions head, Signal hill, Robben island, The Harbour, V&A Waterfront. 9. Take the cable car to the bottom of the mountain and get an uber to you car. 10. You can do this route opposite direction.
Awesome hike! We came down this way. It's very well kept. Gorgeous views!
Amazing experience. Tough route. Worth the effort
Easy and recommended route up to table mountain. Quite a bit longer that platteklip but a lot easier
