Great place. The building is absolutely great and the inside of the building truly amazing full of history. We enjoyed the self paced tour we did and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The griund surrounding the building is also worth exploring with a great view of the harbour.

One should join the guided tour in this place and learn the history of Australian first administration and how the Governorship of NSW evolves through time.

Oldest building in Australia, so you can not missed it. Without a guided tour, you don’t see much. The front looks great. Nice walk around with in the park. Close to Sydney Opera. You can also after visit the botanical garden.

A small but beautiful historic building. If you're visiting on an Open Day, the visit might take 1-2 hrs depending on how many questions you ask the staff. They're all very friendly and knowledgeable about the building and displays, and some have interesting stories about famous events and visitors! The grounds are very well maintained, with a perfect lawn that's really satisfying to view. There was a performance by a band from the police force when I visited on the Queen's Birthday public holiday. You can also go on tours to restricted areas, but space is limited so have to book early.

The government house is a must visit if you are around the Sydney Opera House. It's located right on the slope in front of the Opera House. Guided tours only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning from 10:30 to 3:00 in the afternoon. The building itself is like a beautiful castle or palace. The inside is full of historical treasures.

Nice attraction to visit in Sydney. If the Botanic Garden in your tour plan you must add this place to it. You have to get your ticket to get inside but it easy to have it and the employee was so friendly and helpful. The interior design very classic and fancy it was so enjoyable to look around. The background also , is amazing and has an incredible view .

Highly recommend especially to do the tour. Open each Friday Saturday and Sunday. I suggest you get bus / train / ferry to Circular Quay then walk from there. Up the stairs on the way to the Opera House. It’s an easy walk. The tour goes for 45 minuets and it’s free, but you don’t have to do it. You can access the gardens anyway if you don’t do the tour. Register for the tour at the guard house on the way in. No photos inside the house also, but you can make up for it outside. As always, if you don’t do the tour, you won’t know as much. I highly recommend it. Even children enjoyed it.
