The National Museum of History (NMH; Chinese: 國立歷史博物館; pinyin: Guólì Lìshǐ Bówùguǎn) is located in the Nanhai Academy in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. After the Republic of China government moved to Taiwan, the National Museum of History was the first museum to be established in Taiwan.
A "National Museum of Historical Artifacts and Fine Arts" was established in a Japanese style building near the Taipei Botanical Garden in 1955. It was renamed "National Museum of History" in 1956 and the building was renovated in a five-floor traditional Chinese Ming and Qing palace style, with four floors for exhibition and staff offices, and one floor for storage. Despite its limited space, the NMH is renowned for its international exhibitions, and proactive and innovative museum development and educational programs. Various conversions of the building have been carried out over the years to adapt it as a modern space fit for the newest exhibition facilities and requirements.

The Museum - Consider small museum, 2 floors with special exhibit (additional charge). They do have good collections of ancient Chinese treasure & art works. Educational and informative. There is a garden behind the museum. There is also a restaurant inside the museum as well. The Admission - Very cheap!! MRT station is not too close to the museum, about walking distance 15 minutes.

A great place to learn about the history of Taiwan! There are many exhibitions about historic artifacts. I saw a history of Taiwan textiles. I also heard a lecture from an artist with works on display. There was also an exhibition featuring ceramic works of art and the artist was nearby to answer any questions. There is a restaurant on the top floor that I did not have a chance to enjoy this trip. Maybe next time!

Closed for renovation for 3 years (since Jan 2018? Year wasn't specified). However, there are nice exhibits flanking the main part of the museum.

Very little to see as 2.5 of the 4 floors were closed. Exhibitions were not very interesting and quite loosely related to history at all. Price was very cheap at least. Better to skip it and explore the botanical garden next door instead.

A great museum at a great price! Definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Taipei or even if you if in Taipei and are looking for something great to do that does not cost you much money, I highly recommend that you check this place out. PS: Also, good to note that net door is the botanical gardens, a free other great thing to check out.
