This is a fantastic Night Market. There's a great Friday of stalls and the atmosphere is very vibrant. I would suggest getting here early at the Twilight hours because this is when the light will be best for photographs. I also suggest downstairs to the food court in the basement level which is one of the largest food courts in probably Asia. There is a wide variety of foods available and the vendors are enthusiastic about Hawking their Wares. The sanitation is quite high and I would suggest if you are a tall a seasoned traveler you should be okay with eating the merchandise here. The oyster omelette is a local delicacy and well worth trying.
Massive night market. If you are looking for or heard of anything from Taiwan that you want to eat or try. You probably can find it here easily. The downside is if you are driving here. Parking will be your biggest challenge. Also you need to be able to handle massive amount of people too. I’m talking about thousands ( specially during holidays or festivals it will be insanely crowded ). If you are fine with these. You will enjoy all the good food and great services they can offer.
This place is so vast and expansive that I spent two nights there and still could cover only about one fifth of it. There are so many food shops and stalls that I skipped the game stalls even though they look interesting. There is even an underground section. It has a theme park atmosphere. Love it! Will try to visit again the next time I go to Taipei.
Shilin Night Market is probably one of the top ranking night markets in the eye of tourists visiting Taipei. It is incredibly crowded during the evening. One can find purpose for food, shopping, browsing, games among the street stalls. Even for food, one can find a great variety: from the deliciously sinful grilled meat, seafood, to the everyday staples, to the thirst quenching, to the healthy fruits. But one would need to spend a considerable amount of time to explore the ins and outs of the place to enjoy and even familiarize the place. Plan your time and schedule your trip depending on how well explored you want of the place. A must visit for visitors.
One of the best night markets in Taipei. Great for young people who are looking for clothes stores to shop or any stores that sell trendy goods. Even if you are not going to buy things can still try the street food at the food stalls of great variety. If want to have a place to dine in, go for the nearby underground food center. Be ready to spend an evening there, but recommend not to arrive too late as some stores would be closing after 11.
If there's only sufficient time for one visit to night market, this is the Night Market of choice! Do try their fruit drinks as their fruits are usually fresh. Their famous mushrooms delicacies is a blast when you choose the seaweed and rose salt flavour since it blends well with the soft texture of the mushroom. All in all, DO NOT MISS OUT THIS PLACE if you visit Taiwan!
Went on a Saturday so it was extremely crowded but the atmosphere was exhilarating and the food booths were all delicious and affordable. There is a basement area as well with some more food booths. Our friends helped us navigate to the vegetarian stands which may be hard to pick out but they do exist. There are apparently a fair amount of pick pockets in this area though so avoid keeping your valuables in your back pocket. We had absolutely no problem though but we also kept everything close at hand.
One of the biggest and most accessible night markets. A good variety of food, games and merchandise. Try to avoid going on a weekend as it will be virtually impossible to walk through without being carried by the wave of people. And also remember to check out the surrounding shops and basement too
This place is the best! I go all the time when I come visit family! Go to Steven he sells the best electronics tell him Christine sent you! His line is Steven771009, also if you want the best toys, the people right at the entrance with the mini blocks they have best price( their store is bright have cell phone accessories and next to a guy who sells umbrellas) and the sticker lady way inside near the b level food! Great place!
Lot of shops and vendors catering to all different ages, interests and needs- food stalls, Jewellery, clothing, purses, hair accessories and shoes. I generally go there for buying gifts ( like the purses there), shoes to send to my sister ( they don’t have sizes above 40 for women) and sometimes branded shoes at the ABC mart or another store almost at the end of the lane. The lane turning left at the end of food vendors after the cinema has a couple of good stores to get body piercings- clean and painless ( almost). Open until 1 am usually though might close early on weekdays and rainy days.
A traditional and creative snack market sold by many food hawkers open from afternoon to midnight. Also there are many shop owner sold fashion, shoes, toys, fashion accessories open from morning to night. Here we could found various light meals and snacks are cooked, fried or grilled perfectly in front of the buyer. Hawkers does not provide a place to sit, so customers bought for take away and ate while walking down the passageways. One thing that must be improved, public toilets and hand washing facilities should be added and also need more trash can to dispose of snack packs.
One of the better night markets in Taipei. Great food, clothing and electronic shops. Excellent fresh fruit and smoothie kiosks too. Very large area where you can walk and explore for hours.
Small but fun night market to go exploring and eating. They have a pretty large selection of food that is both cheap and good. After all the food we ate from an empty stomach, we came out very full and satisfied. They range from juices to dumplings to lobster omelets. Definitely worth the visit at night to explore.
A bit nuts this place, the market is a short walk from the station and is well sign posted. There are little of streets and alleys which make up this market. Take time to walk around, we found an eating area at basement level which also had lots of food places. The issue if finding where to eat as there is so much choice! You can find something to fulfill everyone's appetites. Not only is there food but also clothes and tech shops around. Place has a fun vibe
It lives up to its reputation. Packed with people and plenty of food. There also many mini games; some of them quite interesting to watch. The streets are rather narrow but it only heightens the senses. The market is really close to exit 1 of the Jiantan station. It is just a street away. Plenty to do and had a good time here.
THE night market to go to in taiwan and it's always PACKED with people. It has so many different types of snacks for people to try, and also a huge variety of clothing stores; you can basically find anything you want here for a good price. The night market itself is huge so if you want to go through the whole thing you'll have to spend quite a while. Everything is fairly cheap but I found the inner, more hidden stores have the cheapest stuff. Just shop around wherever you like and buy any snacks on the way that entice you and you'll have a great time!
Only had a few hours to spend here, but this is the best night market I've ever been to, in any country. Food variety, quality and price are fantastic. Very clean, and lots to do, family friendly. It's very busy, so if you dislike being herded through at times, avoid peak hours. Will be back in Taiwan, specifically for the night markets.
