Good exhibition on Estonian contemporary artists, but a shame the top floor (contemporary stuff) was closed. It is winter though, but that made the snow covered park setting absolutely fabulous. Lovely time walking in the -11°C cold.
I really was IMPRESSED! great selection of really interesting art pieces. Some inspirational pieces! Good descriptions. Handy cafe downstairs. It's worth the walk from old town. Combine it with the park and lunch in NOP cafe. Cost at 8 euro was good value.
Museum is located in the corner of a huge park, which is a nice tourist place itself. We had a great experience in Kumu, walking through the exhibition halls and getting to know Estonian art. I enjoyed the exhibition about womans place in art through the centuries. Each hall had a nice description at the entrance in several languages. And we enjoyed the historical timeline that allows to understand the art better. After the tour, we had a nice cup of tea in the coffe place downstairs. A place full of chatty people, it was lively and light.
Wow. Incredibly rich collection of works that take you through the centuries. Also a number of exhibitions that were amazing. Loved it here.
One of my favourite art museums. Great, dynamic permanent collection and interesting exhibitions.
It is a very interesting museum. There are always good art exhibitions.
Well worth a visit. Impressive building a short walk through Kadriog Park, past the Presidents residence. Lots of great exhibitions give you a sense of Estonia past and present. Enjoy a coffee and cake in the cafe. A small gift shop, although expense does have some interesting keepsakes to take home.
Exhibitions and artwork were good, thoroughly explained and well displayed. Downside was the attitude of those working there. Someone asked to see my ticket while I was walking round which I showed them and then he started shouting at me in Estonian, I asked in English what the matter was because I can’t speak Estonian and he just tutted and walked away. All other staff were very cold also. Furthermore, there was nothing in the cafe suitable for anyone with allergies- nothing gluten/lactose free that was obvious.
The best art gallery in Europe. Full of beautiful painting's and sculptures. Estonian art are full of history and greatness of this nation.
It’s a long walk from the old town if you wish to walk. The art collections are very inspiring and they have made sure that everything is explained well. There are washrooms and cloak rooms available to store your things.
Top notch museum of modern art. Both the building and the collection are great. Loved the realistic sovjet art and the little subterfuge artists still smuggled into their works during the occupation.
In general it is nice place to visit. Building is very interesting and massive. However, some works was not so good. A lot of works from Soviet Union time and influence. Also, some parts are really very interesting to see.
A great museum. Interesting exhibitions, excellent overview of Estonian art. The best option is to buy one ticket which gives access to three great art museums in Kadriorg. A really good shop with a great choice of books on ground floor.
