Kartvlis Deda (Georgian: ქართვლის დედა; Mother of Kartvel or Mother of Georgian) is a monument in Georgia's capital Tbilisi.
The statue was erected on the top of Sololaki hill in 1958, the year Tbilisi celebrated its 1500th anniversary. Prominent Georgian sculptor Elguja Amashukeli designed the twenty-metre aluminium figure of a woman in Georgian national dress.
You can see the whole Tbilisi from here and a great exercise because u need to climb stairs to reach there.

Great views of Tblisi and the surrounding areas. You can drive up or take the sky car/cable car. I suggest the cable car. It is fast. Well, excluding time spent staging in line. But the line moves pretty quickly. The cost is 5 GEL roundtrip +2GEL if you do not already have a metro card. From the top you are afforded commanding views. There are hiking trails, and old church, fortress walls, etc. The air is much cleaner at the top than down in the city. There are a number of places to get refreshments. Local vendors have setup games, etc for the kids.

Symbol of Georgia. They say one hand holding wine is for freinds, other holding sword is for enemies.

Better viewed from old Town Tbilisi. You can't get far enough away to get a good pic as the ridge she stands at is pretty narrow.
