La Kartlis Deda o la Madre de Kartli (en georgiano: ქართლის დედა) es un monumento en la capital de Georgia, Tiflis[1] que se ha convertido en un símbolo de la ciudad. La estatua fue erigida en la cima de la colina Sololaki en 1958, año en que Tiflis celebró su 1.500 aniversario. El prominente escultor georgiano Elguja Amashukeli diseñó la figura de aluminio de veinte metros de una mujer en el traje nacional de Georgia. Ella simboliza el carácter nacional de Georgia: en su mano izquierda sostiene un recipiente de vino y "saluda" a los que vienen como amigos, y en su mano derecha posee una espada para aquellos que vienen como enemigos.

Great views of Tblisi and the surrounding areas. You can drive up or take the sky car/cable car. I suggest the cable car. It is fast. Well, excluding time spent staging in line. But the line moves pretty quickly. The cost is 5 GEL roundtrip +2GEL if you do not already have a metro card. From the top you are afforded commanding views. There are hiking trails, and old church, fortress walls, etc. The air is much cleaner at the top than down in the city. There are a number of places to get refreshments. Local vendors have setup games, etc for the kids.

Good place for walking, seeing Tbilisi from top, you can use telecabin to get there or walking from old Tbilisi to get there, also local peoples they sells handmade and souvenirs at there.

Better viewed from old Town Tbilisi. You can't get far enough away to get a good pic as the ridge she stands at is pretty narrow.
