Titchwell Marsh is an English nature reserve owned and managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). Located on the north coast of the county of Norfolk, between the villages of Titchwell and Thornham, about 8Â km (5.0Â mi) east of the seaside resort of Hunstanton, its 171 hectares (420 acres) include reed beds, saltmarshes, a freshwater lagoon and sandy beach, with a small woodland area near the car park. This internationally important reserve is part of the North Norfolk Coast Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and is also protected through Natura 2000, Special Protection Area (SPA) and Ramsar listings.
The reserve is important for some scarce breeding birds, such as pied avocets on the islands, and western marsh harriers, Eurasian bitterns and bearded reedlings in the reeds. To encourage bitterns to breed, the reed beds have been improved to make them wetter, and the lagoon has been stocked with the common rudd. Typical wetland birds such as the water rail, reed warbler and sedge warbler also appear, and little egrets are common. The reserve has regularly attracted rarities, as its location is important for migrating birds. Ducks and geese winter at Titchwell in considerable numbers, and the reserve shelters the endangered European water vole.
One of the best RSPB sites in the country due to its wide variety of habitats, from coastal to woodland and just about everything in between. The hides are well situated and allow excellent viewing opportunities with well camouflaged approaches. The staff are obviously hugely enthusiastic about their work and keen to help everyone from the complete beginner to the seasoned twitcher.

Large car park. Good shop and cafe. Clean toilets. Good paths. LOADS to see. Well maintained hides. However I object to paying £6 to park there.

Spent a week in the area on a bird watching trip and this is by far the best reserve we went. Although mid February it was very popular with bird watchers though not too busy A good mixture of wetlands, reedbeds and coast area. Excellent experience.

Great little spot. Good for families and hardcore twitchers alike. Free entry, you just pay a reasonable fee for carparking.

Beautiful, stunning area...blink and you may miss something. The walk and then to arrive at the most open and gorgeous jewel of a beach!! Breathtaking!!

A fantastic place to watch wildlife. A mix of habitats means there is a wide variety of things to see. The paths are wide and well maintained. The hides are well placed and you get great views. The 'there and back again' path is quite short, so this isn't a reserve where you can 'get lost' easily.

In all the years we have been visiting Norfolk we had not been here. We were not disappointed on this first visit. Lots to see. Really great layout of lagoons and hides etc. We had coffee here so cannot comment on the food but there was a large selection from cake to meals. Coffee and tea was basic but good. Nice staff. Trevor particularly helpful. The one thing that spoils this place is trying to get back out onto the main road, particularly turning right towards Hunstanton. It is VERY dangerous. Do not underestimate this. There's a blind bend on the left and overgrown verges on the right, and speeding idiots pop up out of nowhere. This area of road is notorious for accidents and needs traffic calming or at least a road mirror! Be very careful!

Great place for bird watching if you're into that kind of thing. Beautiful beach 1km from the car park, largely deserted due to the lack of facilities (a good thing!) with full shells. A welcome retreat from the dirty sand a few miles down the road at Hunstanton.

Nice experience. We also ate there. Good food and nice staff. We saw lots of different species of birds and I nearly stepped on a common lizard.

Only had to pay a small parking fee to enter (RSPB members enter free). Excellent bird viewing, with well placed hides containing bird guide books. The site has fresh water and salt water marshland, and you can walk right out of the marshes up to the shoreline. Well worth a visit - great value for money!

Love this reserve but be prepared to take warm clothing with you as the wind off tithe sea can be bitter. The cafe is very good with a good range of food and drink. The visitor centre has a small shop selling many different things plus bird food and feeders. Get there early as can get quite busy as dog walkers use the car park as well as the birders. The only problem in the toilets. They are not close to the visitor centre and can be very smelly. Overall a great place to birdwatch.

Very interesting. Like how they have the fresh water and salt water next to each other - great to see a variety of birds. Cafe coukd be improved. Make sure you use the toilet before you go in otherwise it's a hell of a walk back to the entrance.

Excellent location for birdwatchers or just for a leisurely walk to a beautiful Sandy Beach. Parking is free to RSPB. members, but reasonaby priced otherwise. There is a good visitor centre with shop and information and a small cafe. There are plenty of volunteer around for information and guidance
