The Meiji Shrine Inner Garden (明治神宮内苑, Meiji Jingū Naien) or Yoyogi Gyoen is a public garden adjacent to Meiji Shrine and Yoyogi Park in Shibuya, Tokyo. The garden was once part of the suburban residences of Katō Kiyomasa and later the Ii clan during the Edo period. During the Meiji period, the garden came under the supervision of the Imperial Household Agency and named Yoyogi Gyoen (Yoyogi Imperial Garden) and was frequently visited by Emperor Meiji and Empress Shōken. The garden contains a tea house, an arbour, a fishing stand and an iris garden. It has an area of 83,000 square meters and is open to the public throughout the year.

Saw some decent red-orange foliage here even though it was winter, well worth the ¥500! However wouldn’t recommend if it’s not Sakura or autumn foliage season, as there really isn’t that much to see. Minimal structures and attractions, no incredible landmarks as well. Good for a one time visit when in season.
Meiji jingu is a nice place, an oasis of peace and greenery just one street away from Harajuku. For its history check the internet. If you like walks and nice spots for taking pictures, I can recommend it. Also they are repairing the roof, so count with it. The main gates and jingu is already covered with new copper roof. Still nice and shiny. In 2020 it will be 150 years since beginning of the Meiji era, so expect bigger traffic of people.
There's a 500 yen charge to visit this garden. Expect to spend 1.5 hours at most here. There are better parks/ gardens in the vicinity for visiting imho.
A small private garden next to Meiji Shrine that you'll need to pay 500 yen to enter. It has lesser crowd than the main temple compound but unless you're someone who enjoys nature, there isn't much to see here except a lake and a special well. The walk is relaxing but be prepared to drink loads of water.
Wasn't able to reach the main Shrine. Movement of so much visitors was so slow. Consumed a lot of time till i got tired and had to escape from the line
