One of the nicest places to visit in Tokyo, it's hard to believe the bustling city is so close. One needs to pay yo get in but it's worth the small charge. The park is divided into gardens: the English rose garden, Japanese garden (with tea house) and so on. The wooded area in autumn is spectacular for its colours and of course, in spring, there are cherry trees to view. There is also a hot house with a range of orchids and other tropical species. It's a perfect place to walk, meditate and relax, even in colder weather.

A must see if you're visiting Tokyo! Stunning expanse of garden and we were lucky enough to even see a few early blooms of cherry blossoms which was absolutely breathtaking. The greenhouse was by far the highlight. So many plants to enjoy and great access for all including those in a wheelchair. Such a great experience for less than what you'd pay for a coffee
Rachel Bikmars 2, 2018
There is a small fee to get in but its worth it. You can have a picnic here and walk around for pictures. If you go during fall season, its very beautiful with the fall foliage colors in trees. You would need a couple of hours to walk around here. Compare to central park, its not that big and you wont get lost, if you do its not impossible to get yourself out. Every path ways lead you to another sight
Cathleenjanv. 8, 2018
Very nice and calm park in between Shinjuku and Shibuya. There is a fee of about 200 yen to enter but its really nice to go around and take it easy. We were there in February which might not be the best month plant-wise but still enjoyed it allot.
Martin Sundwallmars 2, 2018
One of the most beautiful parks in central Tokyo. A wonderful place where families can relax due to the wide open spaces. The park is immaculately maintained. This is a popular spot during cherry blossom or when the leaves change color during autumn. This place is a lovely little refuge for those seeking a little nature in a bustling metropolitan city.
Eric Yapnov. 29, 2017
Great and large park. Very clean. Better than Ueno park. Had an entrance fee and check bags for alcohol but was worth it. It was a beautiful park and has tons of photo opportunities. Very elegant looking and great park layout. Could stay awhile and spend time here to walk around. Lots of blossoms that are within hands reach and different types and sizes.
Mark Cheungavr. 2, 2018
Such a beautiful and large garden and perfect to visit during cheery blossom season!! Entrance is 200 yen and can get quite crowded at the entrance during peak season. The grounds themselves are so large so there's plenty of space for everyone to walk around and look and the trees. Not very many places to sir from what I noticed, but feel free to bring a picnic blanket and some food to enjoy some lunch under the blossoms.
Nicole Nocheavr. 3, 2018
One of the best gardens I have visit in japan. I like the variety though when I went it was pretty cold so not all the plants bloom. The green house was a nice view from super cold to super warm. There is couple old style homes you can walk around in. Highly recommend for a date or family stroll with picnic if you are near the area!
Jimmy Changmars 15, 2018
This park has lots of open space to relax and enjoy nature. During my visit I saw many families having picnics and just chilling on the grass. The flowers were not in full bloom when I visited mid March but you get to see some. It was an enjoyable experience and a good break from the built up environment in the Shinjuku area.
Kenneth Chowmars 25, 2018
This is arguably Tokyo's most beautiful park. A modest 200 yen entrance fee and no alcohol policy is effective in ensuring a tranquil and serene environment not found elsewhere. The park itself is expansive with lots of lawn, ponds, ancient trees and more. Note, in keeping with ensuring a relaxing space, ball games etc. are not allowed. It's a great place for a picnic or a stroll. There is also a splendid rose garden and botanical green house, as well as various restaurants and cafes. Highly recommended.

Our 1st time and also 1st experience with a Japanese Garden and viewing up close of the Cherry Blossom. Great place for a walk (and picnic) with family and friends, and for tourists too. Was a little early in the season as there were still some trees that was not fully blossomed but we have a wonderful time. Spent a few hours in the park admiring the vast open space, the flora and fauna. Great place to visit.
Eric Chanavr. 30, 2018
This place was simply amazing! If you're into plants definitely check out the greenhouse it won't disappoint! There's lots of other interesting things to see here if you visit in spring. Plenty of cherry blossoms and beautiful landscapes. It is an alcohol free zone and there is a bag check on entering. There's also a small admission fee. My single adult ticket was 250 yen. You can easily spend the entire day enjoying just this park though so it's well worth it!
Ron Hoffeckeravr. 11, 2018
We were so lucky to visit when the cherry blossom was still out as we'd missed it in most other gardens. Stunningly huge garden. The organic restaurant in the garden serves beautiful food which looks like a work of art. The greenhouse is well worth a visit too. We expected a small greenhouse, but it's like a mini Eden project.
Tracie Wrightavr. 22, 2018
This garden is absolutely breath taking. It is split up into sections and each section is a different style of traditional garden. Everything here is very well maintained and the trees are masterfully sculpted. A great place to spend an afternoon exploring or just resting/reading in the shade of a beautiful tree. A very peaceful place to relax.
Sage Ryokianavr. 10, 2018
This garden is beautiful. Totally worth the ¥200!! You can spend hours wandering and taking pictures. The fields are covered in people taking naps, having picnics, it's amazing. It is busy, but never feels too crowded, and there is always a fun path you can wander down and be alone. The greenhouse is a must visit as well, the exotic plants and waterfall. It's so much fun.
Steven Buschmai 28, 2018
This garden is really large and has beautiful landscaping. Because of its size and because they charge money for admission and don't allow alcohol, it's not too crowded during cherry blossom season. It's a great place to come for a chill picnic or to walk around and take pictures. There is a little shop in the garden that sells snacks and drinks, and there are many wonderful photo spots. Easily walkable from several train stations in the area.
Jeanie Connerjuin 2, 2018
It's a truly beautiful garden that takes features from the East and West and blends them together wonderfully in a single space. Having arrived at 330 while the gates closed at 430, our visit was rushed, but we got to enjoy sections of the park where there were nearly no people! This is truly a must visit if you're in the area, especially since the gate fee is only 200 yen per person. We got really lucky and found the molt of a rhinoceros beetle! I highly recommend making the visit here!

One of my favorite gardens, the composition of colors and the integration of rivers with nature is great. It is used on a hot day to play soccer, read a book, have a picnic, children and people can run freely through the large green areas. It is ideal to go all afternoon and have a nice time. It has a traditional Japanese garden area. Visit the garden I recommend it.
pollito serranojuil. 2, 2018
It is extremely cheap for what you get out of it. Beautiful trees, flowers, and buildings. You can get a free map of the garden, in English as well, and there are many different styled areas to see. There is a French traditional area that is amazing, and there are Cherry Blossoms trees, sadly I went during August which was too late to see them blossom. It is 200 yen for an adult, which is around £1.40. The ponds within the garden are also extremely beautiful. This garden is a place you could spend 2 or so hours looking around every part of the garden, or you could take a book and spend the whole day there reading
Elliot Mountfordaoût 12, 2018
Breathtaking ! It's especially popular during the cherry blossom season but it has some beautiful spots in August and December as well. It's incredible to have such a calm place in the centre of Tokyo, and is well worth the small entrance fee. Near the entrance there are public lavatories. My favourite time to visit the garden has always been during the autumn and winter. Less people and blooms certainly, but still so relaxing.
