Well-curated selection of films at a good venue. The food isn't crazily priced and it's a great way to see small-run films or older ones on a big screen. It's great that they also open their venue for smaller festivals so that future filmmakers and audience members can meet each other.

Fantastic movie selection. Less expensive than a normal cinema. Comfy theater seats. Sound quality was perfect. Best popcorn in the city, and beer or wine as well... I love this place.

A must for film buffs! Home of the Toronto International Film Festival held every September. It is also a fantastic place to see films year-round in one of its 5 high-end theatres. Excellent sound, tiered seating, restaurants/lounges, a film library, and other amenities. They run a variety of smaller film festivals and educational programs too.

This is the cinema for those whose really LOVE movies. The last time I visited is to see the 70 mm phantom thread. A hall filled with audiences, but no noises at all for the whole time. Wonderful experience not only for the place but also you can expect enthusiastic audience.

My kids and I were there for TIFF kids, and we had a blast. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. There is stroller parking and coat check for whoever needs it, and lots of activities for the kids other than just the movie. Highly recommend for March break!

Absolutely one of my favourite parts of this whole city. They play movies that you don't get to see anywhere else if you can't make it to Cannes, and the prices are reasonable. I love being a member. The lounge always has free snacks and coffee and tea. I like to go early to movies so that I can spend half hour beforehand there. I love that they play classics from directors like Kubrick because I get to see movies I didn't get to see on the big screen originally! I love how engaged they are with the community. They always have family friendly exhibits. I love when they have special events because the atmosphere is so welcoming. I also found some rare books that are super expensive on Amazon very decently priced in their store.

Outside of the annual TIFF festival, this unique theatre is a unique place to really enjoy classic films that have been remastered or re-struck from their original negatives (ex. 2001: A Space Odyssey) in all their big screen glory. Seats are comfy and far more spacious than your regular cinemas. Prices are fair and they have a student discount ($17 without, $14 with).

Love this place, always an adventure as most movies we see at the Lightbox are ones we typically wouldn't bother seeing anywhere else. Also love that you can have a reasonably priced adult beverage without having to pay for the VIP theatre. Will always be looking forward to seeing the next independent film. Cheers!

Fantastic atmosphere and top of the notch staff. Always eager to help, supportive and great with kids. I’ve gone to TIFF a bunch of times, and the selection of movies is outstanding, specially foreign/not-very-well-known movies. There are some small theatres and everyone is always super friendly. Totally recommend, 5 stars.

Always interesting movies outside the other theatres routines. Affluent audience and nice comfortable ambience. Great locations surrounded by many coffee shops and restaurants. Better go for membership with TIFF to make it count.

The theaters here are so welcoming at TIFF. I saw two movies that day in different cinemas. The smaller one was especially comfortable. The sound was amazing and the view from the seats was impeccable. The larger cinema had more of an angle to the seating but equally great sound. We saw the quiet place. And let me tell you everyone in the theater was very quiet and respectful. No one kicking my seats no one talking loading and disrupting my enjoyment of the movies. If every experience at TIFF is like this then it is worth the extra price on the tickets.

Apparently the membership fees aren't enough to keep it going because this is literally the only theatre in the world I've been to where they want to charge you for an empty cup for water. They'll give you a free one but it's cone shaped and won't sit in the drink holder. So, yeah, great place if you want to feel like you're 14 again and at the mall Orange Julius. Not recommended for catching a flick, tho.
