Last time I was here was in 1974 I was 5yrs old. This time I took my hubby.. Had a wonderful time walking around. The models were great.. my hubby loved it..
Model village is absolutely fantastic. Quite steep in parts so may prove difficult for severely disabled. Toilets- plenty.....cafe ( hot/cold drinks and very basic snacks only.)... gift shop selling usual items. Free return within 7 days. Well worth the visit. Pay and display carpark adjacent (blue badge holders are charged)
What a fantastic little place to visit. The attention to detail is fantastic and really relevant to past and current items. Such a nice relaxing place to go. the view from the top balcony (by big deck chairs) is fantastic too. I do hope they find the other Hobbit though which I could not see in the Lord of Rings display! 4d cinema was fun too.
I was pleasantly surprised by our visit here. We are three generations all finding delight and humour around the various exhibits. For those who want more than just looking at things, there is extra value in the mini-golf as well as the model car and model boat racing. I would have liked to go in for the 3D film, but our youngest was probably a bit too young for it. The model train looping around easily made up for it for him. I can't imagine going too frequently, but I could see us visiting again in a couple years and see it with fresh eyes.
Great place to visit it's really big in the grounds plenty to see. You even get a free return so that you can come back and see the village lit up of an evening would be better with the dark nights as the light nights don't do it justice but it's still great to have a walk round and take in all the hard work that goes into creating all of the models
Very large with lots of variety. A range of dwarf conifers give the whole area a feeling of authenticity. Detailed characters and lots of jokes maintain the interest. Quite a few moving characters and surprises that I've not seen elsewhere. Well worth a visit
Great place for kids and they enjoyed the tour in and out. Some of the concepts will leave you flabbergasted and some "aww...". The effort to build the models is visible and highly recommended to visit if you have kids. Bit expensive at first for £40 for family of four, but at the end worth it. Has a free miniature golf inside. Each model has a theme and a strong line to go with it. Very conveniently located to the stop of bus 122 (was 2 Mon walk from our apartment)....had great fun and must visit....
Really good models which need a bit of care and attention to make them look more appealing to look at. Really liked the engaging "can you find the Easter eggs" and the clever where's wally figures placed in some model genres. Staff were really friendly. The 4D movie was a nice touch and really gave the kids a sense of variety. Main issue. £11.50........not sure.
Amazingly impressive. Very well made and detailed. For kids and adults. Don't miss the Top Gear characters and hidden puns. Has indoor golf and remote car and boat racing (take £1 coins). Give it two hours if you can.
Fantastic. We had been told that this place was a bunch of tired old models. How wrong that was. Its all in great condition, with many models new in the past few years. Tremendous attention to detail and lots of nice touches of humour. We enjoyed it loads and so did the kids so we went back for the evening opening that's included with the first entrance fee. Many models display extra detail especially internally at night and I would highly recommend visiting in both daytime and night. If you can only make the one visit it's still well worth going. Highly recommended.
Had an amazing day with the kids!! Very much looked forward to our free evening return and we weren't disappointed!!! Watched the 4D movie on both visits. Enjoyed some crazy golf. The models ate fantastic and lit up at night they are even more beautiful!!!
Fantastic model village. Amazing attention to detail and site is big. Quite steep slope when you get in so might not suit everyone. Entry price seemed a little bit steep when we first arrived but it was worth every penny. 4D cinema was great. Costs a little extra but well worth it. Mini golf included and was a bit of fun. Cafe and shop at the end are both good too. Even though you're a captive audience, I didn't feel like it was a rip off at all.
I've always found Babbacombe Model Village to be a fascinating place from a young age right through to my recent visits with extended family. The village has seen a number of upgrades in recent years including a mini golf course and exhibition areas which to my knowledge have always been included in the entry price - a welcome change from other attractions. As of December 2017 the village is undergoing a major rework of its city area which looks to be involving a great deal of investment. The 4D experience that the attraction tends to put on during the winter season is always a little disappointing but again is included within the entry price. There is a small cafe and shop, and visitors can obtain a free photo pass for a return visit within 7 days (again, as of December 2017). Visitors can also enjoy evening (Summer) and late afternoon (Autumn/Winter) viewings to see the village fully illuminated. Overall I would recommend for all ages though some may find areas of the village difficult to navigate due to some steep slopes.
Loved it. I was taken aback by the size of the place. Lots of different scenes with a lot of hidden gimmicks. Sizable parking out front. The village itself isn't too expensive at all. Went in the evening when it all lights up which made it even more interesting. Other little events such as remote control cars to play with, a lot of the cars did not work properly, but I won't knock off a star for that as that's not what I came to see!
Proper old fashion, cute animations and little jokes with the business names. Also has famous landmarks and scenes from recent films. Very clean and neat. Not tired looking the way these can look sometimes.
Fantastic place. I haven't been in the 15 years I have lived in Devon because I thought it would be just another 'rubbish model village' but it's actually brilliant! The 4D cinema gives the attraction added value as well. Very nice staff too.
A lot better than we expected it to be. It's very big and very well done. Subtle and not so subtle humour to be found along the way. Kids and adults thoroughly enjoyed the time spent here. Good extras with the little crazy golf shed and boats. Gift shop was OK and just be aware it has some quite steep paths, if that kind of thing makes you nervous! Would definitely return - we no doubt missed some things along the way!
