L'Oceanogràfic (Valencian: [loseˌanoˈɣɾafik]; Spanish: El Oceanográfico [el oˌθe.anoˈɣɾafiko], "The Oceanographic") is an oceanarium situated on the dry Turia River bed to the southeast of the city center of Valencia, Spain, where different marine habitats are represented. It was designed by the architect Félix Candela and the structural engineers Alberto Domingo and Carlos Lázaro. It is integrated inside the cultural complex known as the Ciutat de les Arts i de les Ciències (City of Arts and Sciences). It was opened on 14 February 2003.
The Oceanographic is the largest complex of its type in Europe, spanning 110,000 square metres (1,200,000 sq ft) and holding a capacity of 42,000,000 litres (11,000,000 US gal) of water, including a 26,000,000-litre (6,900,000 US gal) dolphinarium and a 7,000,000-litre (1,800,000 US gal) ocean tank with sharks, rays and other fish. It is home to 45,000 animals from 500 different species—including sharks, penguins, dolphins, sea lions, walruses, beluga whales, birds, reptiles and invertebrate—all inhabiting nine two-tiered underwater towers representing the Earth's major ecosystems. The aquariums utilize sea water pumped from the La Malva-Rosa beach.
Have visited the Museum of Arts &Sciences, and in particular the Oceanographic, (reputed to be the largest aquarium in Europe) several times during the last 12 years. Always enjoy the Oceanographic as the all sea creatures are on the move, so it's a constantly changing colourful display. The entrance charge also includes the dolphinarium show (3times a day). Allowing for a casual walk around all oceans of the world & their types of fish & other sea creatures, dolphin show and a lunch normally takes about 4 hours.

Pretty small park with little animals. Don't like aquariums and zoo's in general but this was one of the better one's, animals looked well cared of. Should be great to do with kids or on a day out in combination with the museum and hemisphere!

The best aquarium in Europe for sure. Better than Sydney Aquarium. The variety of sea animals here is incredible. The dolphin show is a must see. Make sure you ask for the timings of the dolphin show when you come here.

Nice but way overpriced. The dolphin show is good, though I'm not a fan of seeing animals perform really. I think it's the only way to see the dolphins here though. Penguin enclosures were closed which was a disappointment as my daughter and I were hoping to see them. The tunnels with the stingrays, sharks and others swimming overhead are a highlight.

This place was amazing. So much to see and do. This is a great day out for all ages. Easy parking and plenty of food choices

Fantastic experience, specially, if you manage to visit out of pick times. It's a bit pricey because running the place is not cheap and there are mainly professional looking after the animals. Worth a visit. Tip: it's a no cheaper on groups of 16 people or over. Gather a few people from the crowd and buy tickets together to get a much better deal

Awesome trip that will take you pretty much all around the world of oceans and a little bit more. Learn how to safe a dolphin in need. Don't forget to notice their really cool wind-animated logo. The food options are not the best and are expensive. Much better to visit some of the real restaurants downtown.

It's one of the most exciting place to visit in Valencia. Suitable for both adults and children. We bought our tickets online so we dont need to wait and get in immediately. They give us a bracelet, which allow us to enter again later in the afternoon. We spent 4 hours in, it was enough. The dolphin show is great, particularly with Spanish audience. When the host asked to have a child voluntarily join the show, she also encouraged the parents to dance for the audience. The harder the parents dance, the more likely their children are going to be choosen. :) It was hilarious. Some parents really tried. Some big animals are amazing to see them that close. So enjoy, and watch out for running children in those dark rooms!

By far the most beautiful aquarium I've ever visited. When you get there you should first find the dolphins' area because every day it's a show for the tourists. It's better if you see at what time it's the show and after that you can walk around the aquarium.

Oceanografic is an amazing place for kids, parents, teenagers, adults and elderly people. It hosts many species of fish, sharks, dolphins, crocodiles, penguins, jellyfish etc. You can easily spend 2-3 hours there walking around in a moderate pace. The dolphins show takes place each couple of hours. The territory has restaurant and souvenirs shop. Every building is wheelchair accessible.

Really an excellent place to visit. The ocean creatures are really amazing to watch. One of the biggest and largest aquarium in the world. Have a very great collection of ocean creatures. Worth seeing and a very good place to visit in Spain. There are many creatures from the Shark to the tiny fishes. You are privileged to see all in one place. It is a wow and very memorable and enjoyable experience.

Absolutely stunning attraction worth a full day of your time. We spent over 4 hours there and could have spent much longer had we read all the information boards. Beautifully laid out with so much packed into a relatively small area, yet it never feels cramped. The two underwater tunnels are enthralling, as is the glass wall that you watch the Beluga whales through. My highlight was the penguin that was enthralled by my hat. When I held it near the tank he got very excited and followed me as I walked back and forth... cuteness personified.

Very much worth a visit but can take forever to get around with a small child who lives fish. We spent the whole day there. Well thought out with big tanks and a variety of fish. Some big sharks, beluga, walrus and dolphin shows were the biggest impressions. Food inside is predictably expensive so better to take a packed lunch. Parking is 6 euros for the day when you show your tickets to the parking attendant. The system isn't clear so was surprised when I first put the parking ticket in the machine and it requested 15 euros. The ticketing system is a bit annoying when you pay on the day. There were two queues for reservations and non-reservations. We got passed over by the ticket counter guys for no reason despite being at the front of the queue which was unnecessary and puzzling. Spanish preferential treatment? Once inside, things were fine though. Lots to see and impressive tanks with clean healthy looking fish and animals. Highly recommended to visit, but it's a shame the tickets are so expensive at 30 euros per adult. Try checking online for discounts as sometimes supermarkets have them.

Love everything about this place. The aquarium was great for our 5 year old daughter and our 16 month boy as plenty of space to walk around freely without to many hazards. The underwater tunnels we breath taking as was the dolphins. Go and spend the day there and another day in the other museums and surrounding areas. A Must visit

I felt really conflicted after visiting this aquarium. The smaller exhibits seem to have a very environmental message. I was however disappointed to see that beluga whales and walruses are kept in such small tanks with very little to keep them entertained. We sat down to the dolphin show, and decided to leave before it had started. It essentially turns into sea world (hence the expense of the tickets), and they have 15 dolphins in what was essentially an Olympic size swimming pool. Yes it's a spectacular attraction but if you care about animal welfare it leaves a sour taste in your mouth. The space favours people walking around rather than giving importance to the size of their habitats and I hope this is something they will consider modifying in the near future.

Amazing time to spend with your family. The dolphin show is a nice treat for young kids and they spoke both English and Spanish and had great covering for the powerful sun. They have tours with a pre-recorded machine that you take around with you in any language. The food was excellent at the restaurant they had by the Pelicans. The tunnel they have, although it was a bit full, was an astonishing experience. Perfect areas for people with walking disabilities, like ramps and elevators.
