This theatre has a rich history and is visually great to visit both for shows and as a tourist stop. The center booth is open for viewing but the gallery stalls are closed off - the audio tour provides good commetary on the history and background of the theatre.

When we visited the theatre (30/5/18), we wanted audio guides, as we didn't have much knowledge of the history of venue. We waited for about 10 minutes while the staff member issuing the audio guides, tried to reunite people returning their audio guide equipment with their passports etc which they had evidently left with her. This seemed to take an inordinate amount of time, as the filing system she was using seemed to confuse her somewhat. When we eventually got her attention, we were told (rudely) as we had no photo ID, we were unable to have a audio guide. How ridiculous!! My husband even offered to leave a credit card as a surety..but this was rejected. We toured the theatre which was beautiful, but the whole experience was marred by this.

One of the most spectacular attractions in Venice. I just visited 3rd time and the emotions felt are as strong as the first time. Amazing place!

A very disappointing visit. The clear focus is on the history and ownership of the building and not on the theatrical or artistic element of its very being. It's fine to learn that it has been burnt down 3 times but that seems to be more important than why it has been rebuilt i.e the artistic programme. On the plus side you can visit the auditorium and the royal box, foyer and ancillary spaces. ...... but no stage or backstage access.

Beautiful theater house!! The theater seating area is spectacular!!! It rivals La Scala in Milan...almost. La Scala is breathtaking everywhere you look The Opera House in Venice is beautiful and the acoustics are amazing but the halls have low ceilings and very little sparkle to them.
