The Basilica of Santa Maria dei Frari, commonly known as Frari alone, is the largest Venice church. It was received the title of minor basilica by Pope Pius XI in 1926. The Basilica has amazing artwork inside, including two paintings by Tiziano and has 17 monumental altars. It also houses the tombs of numerous personalities linked to Venice, including Claudio Monteverdi and Tiziano himself. It is really worth to visit and enjoy the masterpieces inside.
Well, this is a must see if you are interested in a power play representation and historic development of visual styles. Some works date to 1300s, while the rest are the renowned pieces from 1500-1600s. During the Morning hours it is not so flooded with tourist flocks. I mean... In Venice scales.
This is a must go in the city of Venice. Absolutely marvellous scultures, fresco and paintings. I can spend a whole day admiring the place.
It is extreme worth it to visit this church! The entrance fee is only 3€ and 2€ audio guide which really helps appreciate the art SOOO much more. It is beautiful, well kept and again, totally worth it for art and architecture fiends.
It is an amazing structure and there is an entrance fee and it guide available. The guide deals mostly with art there are few online walking tours that give a great deal of information. it's worth the walk an entrance fee.. don't miss the World War II and German bomber stuck on the left-hand wall.
This is a 15-minute walk away from San Marco, but totally worth going. You'll walk past nice (less expensive shops) if you walk there from Rialto Bridge, and the church itself (€3 p.p. entrance fee and I recommend to pay another €2 p.p. for the audio guide) has some very unusual works, like two large mausoleums/memorials. Look for the family tree of the Franciscans (on the left hand side, close to the far left corner). Very impressive!
This is a MUST SEE. Wonderful architecture, soaring spaces and beautiful art. What an experience. Plan on at least an hour to fully explore the Basilica.
Just 3 Euros and you are in the middle of a fantastic works of art. Wonderful. Also, use the opportunity to pray or just relax. For me, better than Saint Mark's.
Beautiful Basilica much more low key and quieter than St Marks maybe 20 people inside. Can buy tickets inside just a few Euros. We donated a couple Euros for the organ restoration. A must see when in Venice.
One of the most beautiful churches I've been so far. Fantastic gothic architecture with two of Tizian's famous paintings and the grave of Monteverdi and Tizian.
