Tintoretto's Sistene Chapel. This place is gorgeously opulent in a very Venetian, slightly dark way. Every surface is either carved, inlaid, or painted. Lots of gilding. If you only go to a couple art destinations in Venice, this one and the Accademia are the spots you should visit. There are mirrors you can borrow on the second floor to look up at the ceiling without craning your neck.

Amazing sight that must be seen when visiting Venice. From the outside you are not sure what to expect but once inside you are taken away by the art and size of the room. Painting covering the whole ceiling with great depth and colour. Stunning!

Read a little about Tintoretto then go to this overwhelming display of opulent, dramatic, and intriguing paintings. Which I consider to have been painted by the world's greatest painter. These overwhelming scenes are not in a traditional sterile museum, but they hang in a fraternity house (of sorts). Each painting was created for the spot where you see it hanging. Tintoretto painted one a year to fulfill a deal he made with the fraternity (more like a union than a fraternity). This experience takes my breath away each time I see it, so I always stop by, when in Venice.

This museum was a lot of fun. After spending days in museums full of paintings (mostly of Madonna and child,) this museum was a nice relief. It is interactive, and very informative. It doesn't have any of Leonardo's actual world, just copies or digital representations. But they have actual models of inventions that da Vinci realized, many of which you can play with. They also have tables to build architectural items. The VR experience is interesting. Make sure you go upstairs to see the interactive areas. It's 8€ to get in, and they have a reduced rate for students. They aren't included with the Venezia Unica card, but they do have a discount if you have one (5€)

This place is spectacular, not quite a museum more just a display of incredible Renaissance art, I'd never heard of the artist before but his work is amazing. In particular the large depiction of the crucifixion. I don't think I've been in a building as beautiful - the Sistine chapel is pretty special bit out l think the stories of this place having never heard of it makes it a little better Only cost me €10 - worth a lot more than that

Wandering through the alleys in this area, we stumbled across the scuola Grande di san Rocco. It was one of the highlights of our trip and I would highly recommend a visit. Not only is tintorettos work fantastic to see but the rooms themselves are awesome. The simple pamphlet collected at the entrance can explain a lot of what is on the ceilings and walls, so no expertise is needed to enjoy it. Sitting in the main hall just looking up for half hour was superb.

Audio guide and helpful maps for a fee certainly add to the experience of understanding what you're seeing. I was surprised to learn ALL the paintings were painted solely by Tintoretto and how self confident he was that the elders would commission him for the job.

Spend at least one hour admiring the paintings and the interiors. It does not happen everyday to see such a potent example of baroque art and architecture. Incredible the room with the via crucis.

One of the most impressive interiors of any building period. The very rich interior stands in a stark contrast with its role, as an institution that helps the poor. A piece of history of Venice that needs to be experienced.

Incredible baroque interior. Be sure to use one of the mirrors on the ledge at the far end of the room so you can look at the ceiling paintings without straining your neck!
